SLUMBER FALLS SUMMER SALT/CAMP COUNSELOR

We are looking for hard-working, energetic, and FUN individuals to create camp magic, serve as role models, and explore the outdoors alongside our campers. At Slumber Falls Camp both campers and counselors grow in confidence, independence becoming the best versions of themselves.Who We Are:
Friends of Slumber Falls is a non-profit, overnight camp and day camp located on 20 acres off the Guadalupe River in the fast growing town of New Braunfels, Texas. Since 1958, we've provided a joyful, inclusive community where campers ages 6 to 18 are treated with respect, compassion, and care. Campers have the opportunity to participate in camp sessions that emphasize community living while growing in their faith, making connections, developing strong character traits, building friendships that last a lifetime, exploring God's creation, and more. Our community is diverse and smaller in size than most camps, which allows our campers and staff to feel seen, heard, and valued. You will quickly see why our motto of "Camp for a week, friends for life" has been true for over 65 years.Benefits:

The SFC SALT/Counselor is responsible for the overall supervision and health of the campers in their cabin/family group. 18+ with one year of college preferred CPR and First Aid certification are highly encouraged by the time the season begins and may require higher certifications for teaching in specific areas. Participate in required pre-camp training Participate in activities with campers Ensure safety rules and procedures are followed Maintain excellent communication with campers, parents, and staff Perform other duties as assigned by the camp director 18+ with one full year of college preferred A belief in, adherence to, and willingness to promote the mission of the Slumber Falls Camp Willingness and ability to share skills and traditions, and to learn new skills and philosophies. Maturity, strong leadership qualities, and good judgment. Acceptance and appreciation of all the people and the ability to live and work with children and adults of various backgrounds, life experiences and identities Excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work as part of an effective camp staff team Interest in learning outdoor activities such as kayaking, archery, hiking, camping, nature study, games, and crafts Visual and/or auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to working outdoors Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Ability to endure standing for long hours and perform activities such as running, bending, stooping, and stretching. Ability to traverse varying terrain, from flat to hilly, while moving between activities. Ability to operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions. Some physical requirements of a SFC Counselor position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc.Pay:
