SPORTS AND FITNESS FACILITATOR DEPARTMENT
PARKS
AND RECREATION JOB CLASSIFICATION
PART-TIME
PAY GRADE PT2 PAY GRADES LINK GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Programs Supervisor and Program Instructor, Sports and Fitness Facilitators will hold the responsibility of providing safe, engaging, and age-appropriate sports instruction for children (ages 6-12) while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship in a positive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instructed children in sports fundamentals, teamwork, and skill development. Supervised groups of youth participants while ensuring safety and engagement. Modified drills and activities for varying ages and ability levels. Build confidence and sportsmanship through positive coaching techniques. Maintained organized equipment and safe practice environments. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience High school diploma or currently enrolled in high school preferred Experience participating in organized sports, recreational leagues, or team activities Experience working with youth through babysitting, coaching, tutoring, camps, daycare, teaching, or volunteer programs preferred Background in physical education, child development, or recreation is a plus Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic sports rules, drills, and skill development Ability to instruct and motivate children positively Strong communication Ability to supervise groups of children and maintain safety Patience, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt activities for different ages and skill levels Dependable, energetic, and professional attitude Ability to work well independently and as part of a team Special Requirements CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain Ability to lift and move sports equipment as needed Availability to work Monday through Thursday 8:30-12 PM Reliable transportation to and from work site Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed
