Manassas Health & Rehab Center is looking for an enthusiastic Activities Assistant to join our team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients by creating fun, engaging, and memorable experiences every day. From group games and special events to one-on-one activities and community outings, no two days are the same! What You'll Do As an Activities Assistant, you will work closely with our Activities Director and interdisciplinary team to create and deliver meaningful programs that support the social, emotional, physical, and overall well-being of our patients.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with fun, engaging, and meaningful individual and group activities. Encouraging patients to participate in activities based on their interests, abilities, and preferences. Helping coordinate special events, celebrations, holiday activities, and community outings. Assisting with transporting and escorting patients to activities and outings. Driving the center van for approved patient outings and community events, when assigned. Building positive relationships with patients, families, and team members. Helping create a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment for our patients. Assisting with maintaining activity supplies, equipment, and activity areas. Completing required documentation accurately and timely. Supporting and protecting the dignity, rights, independence, and individuality of every patient. Working collaboratively with team members across all departments. Following center policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Attending required meetings and training. Previous experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, long-term care, customer service, or working with seniors is preferred—but a great attitude and passion for working with people are just as important! Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Creative, dependable, patient, and compassionate. Comfortable interacting with seniors, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and occasional varied shifts. Ability to safely assist with patient transportation and activities. Valid and active Virginia driver's license required. Must meet the center's requirements for operating the center van.
