Non-Exempt (Hourly) Position Summary The Full-Time Summer Camp Substitute Youth Development Professional (YDP) provides consistent staffing support across all Boys & Girls Club summer camp locations. This position is scheduled to work every program day throughout the summer but may be assigned to a different site based on daily operational needs. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to quickly adapt to different teams and environments are essential. The Full-Time Substitute YDP is expected to provide the same high-quality supervision, relationship building, and programming as any Youth Development Professional while helping ensure safe, engaging, and well-staffed summer camps. Essential ResponsibilitiesYouth Supervision & Engagement Provide direct supervision of youth while maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. Build positive relationships with youth while serving as a positive role model. Lead and assist with games, enrichment activities, outdoor play, field trips, and special events. Promote positive behavior using Boys & Girls Club behavior management practices. Maintain active supervision at all times and ensure youth safety. Program Support Assist with daily camp setup, cleanup, and organization. Support meal service, attendance, transitions, and daily schedules. Participate in swimming, water activities, and field trips as assigned. Follow all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and licensing regulations. Complete incident reports and other required documentation when needed. Flexible Site Coverage Report to the assigned location each workday as directed by the Director of Operations or designee. Be prepared to work at different sites throughout the summer based on staffing needs. Quickly adapt to different staff teams, facilities, and daily schedules. Provide dependable coverage for planned absences, call-outs, vacations, and staffing shortages. Teamwork & Professionalism Communicate professionally with staff, families, and youth. Follow all Boys & Girls Club policies, procedures, and expectations. Arrive on time, prepared to work, and ready to support the assigned site. Assist wherever needed to ensure programs operate safely and effectively. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with children preferred. Ability to work with youth ages 5-12 in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to changing assignments. Ability to pass all required background checks and meet Vermont childcare licensing requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise youth indoors and outdoors. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and participate in recreational activities. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to participate in water activities when assigned. Schedule Scheduled to work full-time throughout the summer program. Daily work location may change based on organizational needs. Typical schedule is approximately 7.5 hours per day , Monday through Friday. Must have reliable transportation to travel to assigned Boys & Girls Club locations.
