Located on the Northside of Spokane, our community is committed to enriching the lives of our residents through personalized services and engaging activities. Position Summary The Activities Assistant supports the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and carrying out engaging programs for residents. This role is essential in ensuring that both buildings have active and meaningful daily programming. The Activities Assistant provides companionship, fosters socialization, and encourages residents to participate in group and one-on-one activities that promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Key Responsibilities Assist the Activities Director in planning and leading daily resident activities. Facilitate activities in the opposite building to ensure both buildings have consistent programming. Lead or co-lead activities such as Bingo, Sit & Be Fit, arts and crafts, music, movies, games, reading, and one-on-one visits . Assist with preparation, setup, and cleanup of larger events, celebrations, and themed parties. Encourage resident participation while respecting personal preferences and limitations. Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and connection. Document attendance and engagement as directed. Assist with transportation of residents to and from activity areas (as needed and within ability). Report resident concerns, participation changes, or activity suggestions to the Activities Director. Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe, positive, and uplifting environment. Follow all facility policies and procedures to ensure resident dignity, safety, and respect. Qualifications Previous experience in activities, recreation, or caregiving (preferred, but not required). Genuine interest in working with older adults, especially those with dementia/Alzheimer's. Ability to be on your feet for up to 5 hours daily , with opportunities to sit during certain activities. Ability to lift and move up to 20 lbs (chairs, craft supplies, decorations, etc.). Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Creativity, enthusiasm, and a positive, engaging personality. Reliability, flexibility, and willingness to adjust to the varying needs of residents and activities.
