Job Description

Join our team at the Colebrookdale Railroad The Colebrookdale Railroad Ticket Agent is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service to passengers and visitors while assisting with ticket sales, reservations, boarding information, and general railroad-related inquiries. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming experience for guests from the moment they arrive through the completion of their journey. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sell and issue tickets for train rides, excursions, special events, and other railroad activities. Process cash, credit/debit card, and other approved forms of payment accurately. Assist customers with reservations, ticket changes, cancellations, and refunds in accordance with company policies. Provide accurate information regarding train schedules, fares, seating, boarding locations, amenities, and special events. Greet passengers and provide courteous, professional customer service. Answer telephone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries from customers. Assist passengers with boarding procedures and direct them to appropriate platforms, cars, or seating areas. Maintain accurate ticketing and cash-handling records. Balance cash drawers and complete end-of-shift financial procedures. Monitor ticket availability and communicate with railroad operations staff regarding passenger counts and special accommodations. Assist with crowd control and passenger flow during busy periods. Promote railroad merchandise, memberships, special excursions, or other available services when appropriate. Resolve routine customer concerns and refer more complex issues to a supervisor or manager. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming ticket office and customer service area. Follow all railroad safety rules, company policies, and applicable procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service, ticketing, retail, hospitality, or cash-handling experience preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle cash and operate point-of-sale or ticketing systems accurately. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to remain professional and helpful in a busy, public-facing environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors or in varying weather conditions when assisting passengers. Ability to lift or carry light materials and supplies as needed. Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and special-event days as required by the railroad's operating schedule. Key Attributes The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, patient, safety-conscious, and comfortable interacting with a wide variety of guests . A genuine interest in railroads, tourism, local history, or hospitality is highly desirable.
