Job Description

The Cape Fox Lodge is looking for an Assistant General Manager to join our team in Ketchikan, AK. The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the lodge leadership team and is responsible for supporting the General Manager in daily operations and to ensure exceptional guest experience and ensure the overall efficiency of the front office and housekeeping operations. This position provides hands-on leadership and training of staff as outlined in the Front Office Training Procedures and will ensure staff is prepared to provide excellence to guests and visitors at all times. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys working in a dynamic and seasonal environment and can balance guest service, employee leadership, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Assistant General Manager should be comfortable working closely with staff, addressing challenges and representing the lodge professionally with guests, vendors, and the local community. At this time we are not offering relocation assistance or housing for this role. The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this exempt position has been established at: $75,000 to $85,000. . The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits including company holidays, paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company match. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn. Duties include but are not limited to: Implement and maintain minimum standards for the Front Office and Housekeeping departments. Hire, train and supervise, and evaluate front office and housekeeping staff, including managing the Housekeeping Manager. Establish clear expectations for employee performance, guest service, and adherence to Cape Fox Lodge standards, policies, and procedures. Prepare staff work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and maintain excellent service to guests at all times. Authorize departmental payroll in accordance with approved labor standards and maintain the Front Office department within established budget and payroll guidelines. Monitor and manage daily Front Office operations, including guest arrivals, departures, reservations, room readiness, and overall property operations. Train and monitor front office staff. Use proper telephone and reservation etiquette, including accurately describing the lodge, quoting rates, and capturing reservations. Welcome guests and respond to questions, requests, concerns, and complaints in a professional, timely, and efficient manner. Resolve guest issues promptly and ensure guest needs are consistently met. Ensure the property remains clean, comfortable, safe and welcoming. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, common areas, grounds, and operational areas to ensure established standards are maintained. Coordinate maintenance and repairs and follow up to ensure issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions quickly and professionally. Coordinate communication between departments to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations. Ensure staff performance evaluations are completed professionally and in a timely manner. Ensure consistent compliance with lodge standards, policies, procedures, and service expectations. Serve as Acting General Manager and assume General Manager responsibilities in his or her absence.

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in hotel industry as a Front Office Supervisor. Demonstrated proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems and related hospitality technology. Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Experience managing housekeeping department. Experience managing laundry department. Experience in food and beverage department. Requirements Knowledge, understanding, and adherence to Company core values and mission statement. Leads by example, consistently modeling the behaviors, work ethic, and standards expected of the team. Demonstrated ability to assess situations thoughtfully and exercise sound, professional judgment and make reasonable decisions. Long hours are sometimes required. On-call status is required. Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle stress and deliver professional results. Long hours and weekends are required. Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Self-motivated with minimal oversight. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Some travel may be required. Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
