General Manager / Assistant Manager Position Summary The Lead Shift Manager is a leadership position designed for strong Shift Managers who are ready to take greater ownership of the restaurant and its results. In addition to successfully running shifts, a Lead Shift Manager is responsible for taking ownership of an assigned area of the business, such as labor management, food cost, inventory, training, speed of service, cleanliness, or another key operational priority . The goal of this position is to develop leaders who do more than manage the shift in front of them. Lead Shift Managers are expected to identify opportunities, help solve problems, follow up on results, and work with the management team to improve overall restaurant performance. Key Responsibilities Shift Leadership Lead safe, organized, and productive shifts. Position team members effectively based on business needs. Maintain strong standards for food quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Coach team members throughout the shift and address performance issues when needed. Complete opening, closing, cash-handling, and other assigned management responsibilities accurately. Respond quickly to customer concerns and help create a positive guest experience. Lead Area Ownership Each Lead Shift Manager will be assigned one or more areas of responsibility based on the needs of the restaurant and the strengths of the individual.
Examples include:
Labor Help manage staffing and deployment to meet labor goals. Understand scheduled versus actual labor. Identify opportunities to improve productivity without sacrificing service. Communicate labor concerns and recommendations to management. Food Cost & Waste Help monitor food cost, portions, waste, and product usage. Coach employees on proper portioning and preparation procedures. Identify unnecessary waste and help develop solutions. Support accurate inventory and product controls. Inventory Assist with inventory counts and product organization. Help identify shortages, over-ordering, and unusual product usage. Maintain proper rotation, storage, and organization. Training & Team Development Help train and develop new and existing team members. Follow up on training standards and progress. Coach employees who need additional support. Identify team members with leadership potential. Other lead responsibilities may include speed of service, customer experience, cleanliness, safety, equipment, opening/closing standards, or other restaurant priorities. Qualifications Previous Shift Manager, Shift Leader, or comparable leadership experience preferred. Strong understanding of restaurant operations. Ability to lead and coach a team. Dependable attendance and availability. Ability to understand basic restaurant performance measures such as labor, food cost, waste, sales, and productivity. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to accept ownership and accountability for results. Compensation $15.00-$19.00 per hour , based on experience, leadership ability, performance, level of responsibility, and demonstrated ownership of assigned areas.
