General Manager in Training — A Growth Opportunity, Not Just a Management Job We're a popular beach bar and grill looking for our next leader. This is a General Manager in Training role built for someone hungry to grow. You'll start by proving yourself running our day-to-day front-of-house operation, then step into a full salaried General Manager position with real ownership over how the business runs. The person who fills this role will help shape the future of the bar. We're hiring for drive and potential, not just a title. If you're a strong front-of-house leader with real back-of-house know-how and you want a clear path to running the show, this one is for you. Your Path to General Manager Start hands-on in a paid training period leading front-of-house operations (roughly $25/hour; with overtime, about $52,000-$60,000 during this phase). Prove your leadership, judgment, and consistency. Once your training period is up, grow into a salaried General Manager role with expanded responsibility and compensation that grows with your performance, up to $70,000. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day front-of-house operations: staff, service, and the guest experience. Manage, train, and mentor the team; handle scheduling, shift transitions, and performance. Keep an eye on the kitchen and the food — understand the line, prep, and dish setup, not just the people. Oversee food quality, presentation, and safety standards. Own the practical side of the building. Be hands-on and willing to handle small operational issues and minor maintenance yourself (think tightening a loose hinge or troubleshooting a simple fix) instead of calling a contractor for every problem. Know when an issue is minor and when to escalate. Manage inventory, ordering, and waste; use POS systems for orders, cash handling, and reporting. Watch the numbers — help drive profitability and control costs. Be the first call when something comes up, and step in quickly when the location needs you. Who You Are Hungry, driven, and looking for a role you can grow into — you see this as a pathway to running a business, not a static job. Strong front-of-house management experience with real back-of-house knowledge and an eye for food and kitchen operations.
