Compensation:
$70,000-$80,000/year, DOE Ain't Normal is looking for a Kitchen Manager / Chef to lead our kitchen. You'll own menu execution, day-to-day operations, and team leadership — with real room to shape how the kitchen runs.
Requirements:
California Food Protection Manager Certification (CFPM) — or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire Proven kitchen leadership experience (sous chef, kitchen manager, or CDC level) Available for full-time hours, including weekends, mornings, and afternoons Valid driver's license preferred What you bring: A hands-on leader who can manage the team and oversee daily kitchen operations Experience with both pastry and savory cooking Strong organizational skills — ordering, inventory, and food cost management Comfortable training and developing staff, and enforcing food safety, sanitation, and quality standards Collaborative — able to work directly with ownership on menu development and seasonal offerings Comfortable working with seasonal, high-quality ingredients and adjusting menus accordingly A team player who communicates clearly with staff and management Physical requirements: Able to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items up to 50 lbs Manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow oral/written instructions
