Job Description

O2 Employment Services is working with a local nonprofit to find their next Food Services Assistant in Redding, CA. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced food service professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and helping provide meals to individuals within the local community. The ideal candidate will have previous food service experience, strong organizational skills, and be comfortable assisting with meal preparation, kitchen operations, volunteers, donations, and maintaining a clean and safe food service environment.
Food Services Assistant Compensation & Schedule:
$17-$19 per hour, depending on experience Full-time opportunity Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Located in
Redding, CA Food Services Assistant Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Minimum 3 years of food service industry experience Culinary Arts education and/or line cook experience preferred ServSafe certification preferred Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, program participants, guests, and members of the community Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced kitchen environment Comfortable helping train and provide direction to kitchen assistants, volunteers, and program participants Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Ability to follow established food safety, health, and organizational policies and procedures Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Clean DMV record and ability to meet company auto insurance requirements Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
Food Services Assistant Responsibilities:
Assist with daily food service operations, including meal preparation, service, and cleanup Assist with meal planning and preparation utilizing available budget and donated resources Help train and supervise assistants, program participants, guests, and community volunteers assigned to the kitchen Accept and pick up donations and provide appropriate receipts Assist with maintaining kitchen records, including food donations and transfers to other charitable organizations Ensure food and supplies are properly stored and utilized to minimize waste Help ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in working order Assist with food drives, banquets, and special events Assist with the emergency food bag program Follow established ServSafe, USDA, OSHA, Health Department, and other applicable health and safety standards Accurately track and report daily and monthly meal statistics Maintain a clean and orderly pantry, freezer, walk-in, food preparation area, kitchen, and dining room Perform additional food service duties as needed Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
