Job Description

Part-Time Household Manager / Family Assistant Megapixels School of the Arts San Marcos, CA Job Details Part-time $20 - $30 an hour 13 hours ago Benefits Work from home Qualifications Sweeping Kitchen health and safety standards Recycling Pre-cooking preparation Food service health code compliance Moving Household management Food sanitation practices Errand assistance Food preparation Stocking Full Job Description Part-Time Household Manager / Family Assistant San Marcos, CA | ~12 Hours/Week | Weekday Mornings We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Household Manager / Family Assistant to help keep our home running smoothly. The ideal person naturally notices what needs to be done, thinks ahead, works efficiently, and takes pride in leaving a home clean, organized, and reset. The most important quality we're looking for is initiative. We don't want to hand out a detailed to-do list each day. We want someone who can walk in, assess what needs attention, prioritize, and get it done. Schedule Approximately 12 hours per week across weekday mornings, ideally starting around 10:00 a.m. We prefer shorter, consistent shifts throughout the week rather than one or two long days. Please only apply if you're available at least 4 weekdays during the day. There may be room to adjust hours over time.
Primary Responsibilities Kitchen:
Keep it clean and reset (dishes, dishwasher, wiping counters, trash/recycling, putting food away, keeping the fridge organized). Strong food-safety practices are essential.
Laundry:
Full ownership, washing, drying, folding, putting away, and following care instructions. Good sequencing is key (start time-sensitive tasks early enough to finish them).
Household Reset & Light Cleaning:
Tidying, wiping surfaces, bathroom touch-ups, vacuuming/sweeping, taking out trash, and putting things back where they belong. (A separate deep cleaner is available, so heavy deep cleaning isn't required.)
Light Organization:
Help maintain an uncluttered home. Put away what you know the place for; we'll have a designated spot for anything unclear.
Household Supplies:
Notice when we're running low and restock approved items.
Amazon Returns:
Package and drop off returns promptly so they don't pile up.
Simple Food Prep:
Occasional help following straightforward recipes (e.g., muffins, browning ground beef, chopping veggies). No advanced cooking needed, but safe food handling is a must.
Limited Infant Support:
We recently welcomed a baby girl, and Mom is her primary caregiver. This is not a nanny role, but infant experience is required. Occasionally you'd safely hold or soothe the baby, change a diaper, or watch her nearby so Mom can shower, eat, or rest. What We're Looking For Someone who is proactive, observant, efficient, calm, reliable, trustworthy, organized, great with hygiene and food safety, comfortable around a newborn, and able to work independently without ongoing supervision. Someone who sees a problem and naturally wants to solve it. Working Style We'll usually be home while you work. We'd love someone quiet, calm, and warm who can come in, say hello, and get to work without needing constant direction. Questions are always welcome when needed. Household Details ~1,800-2,000 sq ft rented condo, 4 bed / 3.5 bath New baby in the home; parents often work from home Errands are close by No pets, no smoking We use clean, chemical-free products Requirements Previous infant experience Strong housekeeping/home-management skills Excellent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail Reliable transportation and comfortable running local errands Excellent hygiene and food-safety habits Able to safely lift/carry an infant, laundry, and groceries Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy Solid references required (requested if we move forward) A background check will be required if we decide to move forward How to Apply Please submit a 30-90 second video introducing yourself and answering the questions below, and send it via email to meg @ megapixelsart. com -(remove the spaces) (we'll review video applicants first). In your video, please share: Your relevant household management, housekeeping, family-assistant, nanny, or infant experience Your weekday availability Confirmation that you have reliable transportation A little about why this role interests you Please also answer this scenario: You arrive at 10:00 a.m. The kitchen is messy, there's a load of laundry to do, several Amazon returns are by the door, we're almost out of laundry detergent, Mom is nursing the baby and would like to shower sometime that morning, and groceries need to be picked up. You have a three-hour shift. Walk us through how you'd approach the morning and why. (There's no single perfect order, we're more interested in how you think.)
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 12.0 per week
Work Location:
In person
