Job Description

Job description: Chef/Owner David Kinch is looking for a Floor Manager to join his new Santa Cruz restaurant. Bar Select takes inspiration from the French/Italian Riviera and brings it to California's Coastline with a Kinch touch. Located in Santa Cruz, California, the restaurant features a Rotisserie wood-fired chicken oven, full bar, and fresh ingredients from small local farmers. As a Floor Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth daily service, supporting the front-of-house team, and helping deliver memorable guest experiences. You'll be a hands-on leader who sets the tone on the floor, maintains a positive work environment, and works closely with management to uphold Bar Select's high standards of hospitality.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support front-of-house staff during service to ensure efficiency and excellent guest service. Assist with daily shift duties such as opening, closing, and floor set-up. Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities, menu updates, and service standards. Help train new team members and provide ongoing guidance and feedback. Monitor the dining room, bar, and service stations to ensure cleanliness, organization, and smooth operations. Act as the first point of contact for guest concerns, resolving issues with professionalism and care. Collaborate with the management team to implement service standards, policies, and procedures. Support special events, private dining, and promotions as needed. Staff scheduling, staff coverage, and light administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Previous restaurant supervisory or shift lead experience preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate a team. Passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding guest service. Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
