Full Job Description Position Summary:
As a General Manager at IHOP, you are the leader of the business and the anchor of success for your restaurant. You are responsible for delivering strong financial performance, building high-performing teams, and creating meaningful connections with guests, team members, and the community. You lead from the front, set the standard for execution, and bring the company's purpose and values to life every day.Responsibilities:
Business Performance:
Own full P and L performance including sales growth, labor management, food cost, controllable expenses, and profitability. Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Execute company initiatives and drive measurable business results.Operations Execution :
Ensure consistent execution of IHOP brand standards, food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, hospitality, and guest experience. Lead all dayparts with discipline, urgency, and care. Maintain a clean, safe, fully staffed, and fully operational restaurant at all times. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and consistency.Talent and Leadership :
Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and develop team members using a skills-based approach. Develop leaders through feedback, performance management, recognition, and accountability. Build a strong bench through succession planning and career development. Hold team members accountable to performance, behavior, attendance, and standards.Culture and Engagement :
Reinforce company purpose and values in daily interactions. Lead Alley Ralleys to align, motivate, and energize the team. Recognize and reward performance to drive engagement and retention. Foster an inclusive, respectful, and high-performance environment.Compliance and Risk Management :
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws. Enforce company policies, food safety standards, safety procedures, cash handling controls, and operational standards. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting. Manage guest, employee, and safety incidents with proper follow-up and resolution.Community and Brand Presence:
Build relationships within the local community. Represent the brand consistently and professionally. Serve as the primary owner of the restaurant's reputation, culture, and results.Skills:
High-volume restaurant operations leadership. Financial acumen including P and L ownership, labor management, food cost control, and profitability. Talent development and coaching. Conflict resolution and decision making. Guest service and hospitality leadership. Operational problem solving. Technology proficiency including POS systems, labor scheduling tools, reporting platforms, training systems, Microsoft Office, and business communication tools.Competencies:

Proven experience leading operations with full accountability for performance outcomes Demonstrated ability to manage teams, drive results, and maintain operational standards Strong understanding of P&L, labor management, and cost control Ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams Experience leading multiple leaders or supervisors Ability to analyze performance data and drive improvement Demonstrated success in high-volume or multi-unit restaurant environments Proven ability to lead through complexity, pressure, and changing business conditionsPhysical Requirements:
Standing and walking for extended periods, typically 8 to 12 hours per shift. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motion. Ability to work in high-temperature kitchen environments and fast-paced dining room conditions. Exposure to wet floors, noise, moving equipment, cleaning chemicals, and variable restaurant conditions. Fun, fast-paced, and rewarding full-service restaurant environment with broad business leadership accountability. Requires 100 percent in-restaurant leadership presence and active floor leadership during peak periods and critical shifts.
