Executive Leadership Position Overview:
Button Rock Bakery & Deli is seeking an experienced General Manager with a strong culinary background in both savory and bakery production to lead daily operations across all departments. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the full operation of the bakery and deli, including production, kitchen, cake department, retail, sales, communications, wholesale and delivery operations. The ideal candidate is not only operationally strong but also brings a vision for building, scaling and improving systems, combined with a high level of emotional intelligence, leadership maturity and team awareness. This is a leadership role for someone who understands that success in a high-performance bakery comes from balancing standards, people, systems and consistency. Core Leadership Expectations The General Manager must demonstrate: High emotional intelligence and self-awareness Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to lead diverse teams with clarity and consistency A calm, solutions-driven leadership style under pressure A clear vision for growth, structure, and operational improvement Ability to build trust while maintaining accountability Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Oversee all daily operations across bakery, deli kitchen, cake production, retail, sales/communications, wholesale, and delivery Ensure smooth execution from production through guest experience Maintain consistency in quality, service, and workflow Identify and resolve operational breakdowns quickly and effectively Culinary Oversight (Required Background) Lead both savory and bakery production systems at a high level Understand production flow across bakery items, cakes, and deli/kitchen operations Ensure recipe consistency, cost control, and production efficiency Work directly with culinary leads to maintain execution standards Team Leadership & Culture Lead, train, and develop department managers and staff Oversee hiring, performance management, and accountability systems Build a strong, respectful, high-performance team culture Set expectations clearly and consistently across all departments Labor, Scheduling & Financial Control Oversee scheduling across all departments including kitchen, bakery, retail, and delivery Manage labor targets in alignment with sales Monitor productivity, efficiency, and staffing needs Ordering, Inventory & Cost Control Oversee ordering across all departments Maintain strong inventory systems, waste control, and cost efficiency Partner with vendors to ensure quality and pricing standards Monitor food cost performance across savory and pastry production Sales, Wholesale & Communications Oversee retail, catering, wholesale, and special-order sales Maintain wholesale relationships Ensure strong communication standards with customers and partners Support revenue growth through operational execution and consistency Delivery & Logistics Oversight Oversee delivery drivers and logistics systems Ensure timely, accurate execution of all deliveries Maintain standards for weddings, catering and wholesale fulfillment Vendor & Community Relations Represent Button Rock Bakery professionally with vendors, partners, and community stakeholders Build strong, long-term external relationships Act as an operational and cultural ambassador of the brand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Labor efficiency and cost control Food cost and inventory accuracy Product consistency across all departments Team performance, retention, and accountability Sales growth (retail, wholesale, catering) Operational execution and problem resolution speed Customer satisfaction and brand reputation Delivery and logistics performance Qualifications Minimum 5+ years leadership experience in food service, bakery, restaurant, or hospitality operations Strong culinary background in both savory and bakery production (required) Proven ability to lead multi-department operations Strong understanding of food cost, labor systems, and inventory control Exceptional communication and leadership skills High emotional intelligence and team awareness Strong vision for operational structure and improvement Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment What Success Looks Like A fully aligned and accountable leadership team Consistent, high-quality production across all departments Strong labor control and operational efficiency Growing wholesale, retail, and catering revenue Clear systems and structured daily execution A stable, high-performing team culture Why Button Rock Bakery & Deli This is a leadership role for someone who wants to build—not just maintain.
