GROCERY STORE GENERAL MANAGER A

Position Summary The Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, culture, execution, and financial performance of the store. This position is not simply about running operations. It is about developing department managers, creating accountability, maintaining standards, and ensuring consistent execution throughout the building. The successful candidate will spend significant time coaching leaders, walking the store, engaging customers, identifying opportunities, and ensuring that expectations become reality. We are looking for a leader who understands that managing people is more important than managing product. What Success Looks Like A successful
Store Manager:
Builds strong department managers Creates a culture of accountability and follow-through Maintains outstanding customer service standards Holds teams accountable while treating people with respect Identifies problems early and addresses them directly Develops future leaders Maintains a clean, full, fresh, and customer-ready store every day Balances operational excellence with a positive work environment Leadership Responsibilities Team Development Train, coach, and develop department managers and associates Conduct regular coaching conversations and performance discussions Identify future leaders and create development plans Hold managers accountable for results and execution Foster a culture of professionalism, respect, and teamwork Leadership Presence Maintain a visible presence throughout the store Walk departments daily and identify opportunities Engage regularly with customers and associates Lead by example through attitude, professionalism, and work ethic Address issues promptly rather than allowing them to linger Communication & Accountability Conduct regular manager meetings Ensure company initiatives are executed consistently Communicate priorities clearly and follow up on commitments Promote collaboration between departments Create clarity around expectations and performance standards Customer Experience This position is built on customer service. The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring every customer receives a friendly, helpful, and professional shopping experience.
Responsibilities include:
Reinforcing customer service expectations Monitoring service levels throughout the store Handling customer concerns and escalations Maintaining a culture where customers are acknowledged and assisted promptly Supporting the service standards that differentiate this opportunity from larger competitors Operational Responsibilities Oversee all daily store operations Ensure strong merchandising, freshness, sanitation, and presentation standards Monitor labor productivity and scheduling Review sales, gross profit, shrink, and payroll performance Ensure food safety and regulatory compliance Coordinate with department managers to execute seasonal and promotional programs Maintain safe working conditions for employees and customers Qualifications Previous Store Manager, Retail or Assistant Store Manager experience preferred Proven ability to develop and lead management teams Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills Demonstrated ability to create accountability and drive execution Strong organizational and follow-up skills Customer-focused leadership style Ability to make decisions confidently and consistently The Right Candidate The right candidate is: Visible Organized Decisive Accountable Respectful Calm under pressure Comfortable having difficult conversations Passionate about developing people Most importantly, this person understands that great stores are built through great leadership.
