District Manager/Operating Partner Position Summary Jersey Mike's Subs is seeking an experienced, energetic, and results-driven General Manager to lead all aspects of restaurant operations. The General Manager is responsible for building a strong team, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining Jersey Mike's brand standards, and achieving the restaurant's sales and profitability goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who sets clear expectations, develops employees, holds the team accountable, and creates a positive environment for customers and team members. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Development Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and retain qualified team members. Lead by example and promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented culture. Coach and develop Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Team Members. Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback. Address attendance, conduct, and performance concerns promptly and professionally. Build a leadership pipeline and prepare high-performing employees for advancement. Conduct team meetings and communicate restaurant goals, promotions, and operational updates. Restaurant Operations Direct all daily restaurant operations, including opening, closing, shift execution, and peak-period readiness. Ensure food is prepared accurately, quickly, and according to Jersey Mike's recipes and quality standards. Maintain excellent customer service and promptly resolve customer concerns. Ensure compliance with food-safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace-safety requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning restaurant. Ensure equipment is properly used, cleaned, and maintained. Complete required operational reports, inspections, checklists, and administrative tasks accurately and on time. Sales and Financial Performance Develop and execute plans to increase sales, transactions, and customer loyalty. Review daily and weekly sales results and address performance opportunities. Manage labor schedules based on forecasted sales and business needs. Monitor food cost, inventory, waste, portion control, and product usage. Review profit-and-loss results and implement corrective action when targets are not achieved. Control operating expenses while maintaining strong customer service and brand standards. Ensure deposits, cash counts, paid-outs, refunds, and register procedures are completed accurately. Protect company assets and investigate cash, inventory, or operational discrepancies. Scheduling and Staffing Prepare and maintain an effective employee schedule. Ensure the restaurant is properly staffed for all shifts. Manage overtime and labor costs while supporting operational needs. Maintain an active recruiting pipeline to reduce staffing shortages. Ensure employee availability, timekeeping, attendance, and scheduling records are accurate. Brand Standards and Community Engagement Maintain Jersey Mike's standards for product quality, customer service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Ensure all required training and certifications remain current. Prepare the restaurant for company visits, health inspections, and operational audits. Support local marketing, catering, fundraising, and community outreach activities. Build positive relationships with customers, employees, vendors, and the local community. Qualifications Two or more years of restaurant-management experience preferred. Quick-service or fast-casual restaurant experience strongly preferred. Proven ability to recruit, train, develop, and retain employees. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of scheduling, labor management, inventory, food cost, cash handling, and profit-and-loss statements. Ability to establish priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Strong commitment to customer service, food safety, and operational excellence. Basic computer and administrative skills. Must meet all applicable age and food-safety certification requirements. Must have reliable transportation. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate restaurant equipment. Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced restaurant conditions. Ability to perform all essential restaurant positions when needed.
