ABOUT MARIETTA COUNTRY CLUB
Founded in 1915, Marietta Country Club is a premier, private, member-owned club in Kennesaw, Georgia, set against the scenic backdrop of Kennesaw Mountain. For more than a century, the Club has evolved to meet the needs of successive generations while preserving the traditions, welcoming culture, and commitment to exceptional service that have defined its history. Today, Marietta Country Club blends timeless Southern hospitality with modern amenities to create a first-class private club lifestyle for Members and their families. The Club's golf experience is a cornerstone of its offerings. After relocating to its current property in 1990, Marietta Country Club opened an 18-hole Championship Course designed by Robert Cupp. In 2005, the addition of a third nine holes created today's 27-hole golf experience, comprising the Championship Course and the Overlook. Golf amenities include an enhanced driving range and short game area, as well as junior and instructional programs. The Club is nearing completion of a multi-phase renovation of all 27 holes. Bill Bergin Design was hired to reimagine the course while preserving its character. Beyond golf, Marietta Country Club offers an extensive range of recreational amenities. Its racquet sports program includes 12 tennis courts and six pickleball courts, complementing a robust calendar of activities and instruction. A full-service fitness center provides another avenue for health and wellness, while the seasonal swimming pool offers a family-friendly setting for recreation and relaxation. The Rose Pavilion, which overlooks the pool, provides an outdoor venue for dining and events. Dining and social connection are equally central to the Club experience. Members can enjoy four distinct dining venues, including the 1915 Grille, Mountain View Lounge, Turn Kitchen, and Men's Grill, with settings ranging from casual dining to scenic spaces overlooking Kennesaw Mountain. The Club also offers a year-round calendar of social events and longstanding Member traditions that encourage connection, celebration, and family engagement.

GENERAL MANAGER
  • POSITION
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will serve as Marietta Country Club's chief operating executive and will be responsible for translating the Board's strategic direction and established policies into consistent, high-quality execution. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the Club's operations, including golf, agronomy and grounds, food and beverage, membership and communications, racquets, aquatics, fitness, finance, human resources, facilities, and special events. This individual will establish and uphold exceptional service and operating standards while ensuring the Club's facilities, programs, and amenities consistently meet the expectations of its membership. The General Manager will lead, develop, and hold accountable a talented team of department heads while fostering a collaborative workplace culture centered on service, communication, professional development, and continuous improvement. Additional responsibilities include preparing and managing operating and capital budgets, safeguarding the Club's assets, overseeing capital projects, and partnering with the Board on long-range planning, membership growth, and capital reserve strategies. As the primary liaison among the Board, membership, and staff, the General Manager must be a visible and approachable presence who builds trust, communicates transparently, thoughtfully addresses member concerns, and balances responsiveness to individual perspectives with the best long-term interests of the Club.
INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER
Be visible and engaged. Get to know the members, their families, staff team members, culture, traditions, and history of Marietta Country Club. Engage all segments of the membership by developing a deep understanding of what Members want and expect from their Marietta Country Club experience. Prioritize listening, observing, and learning to build consensus across diverse member groups, and foster alignment through thoughtful communication, education, and relationship-building. Review and evaluate the current organizational chart; make a recommendation to the Board for any changes or enhancements needed. Review current practices for staff recruitment, retention, and overall development/training/performance evaluation strategies, and work with the Team to develop a plan for enhancement in each area as appropriate. Evaluate and enhance the overall Marietta Country Club member experience, particularly within food and beverage operations, by re-establishing standards of excellence, setting clear expectations for the team, and fostering a culture of accountability, while collaborating with staff to implement a focused action plan for timely and meaningful improvements. Partner with the Board to revisit and refine the Club's Master Plan, establish strategic priorities, and continue thoughtfully positioning Marietta Country Club for the future.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS A
minimum of 7-10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in a private, member-owned club or comparable hospitality environment with multidimensional operations is preferred. Accomplished industry "rising stars" who have demonstrated success, leadership readiness, and the ability to assume broader responsibilities will also be considered. Strong operational and financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and oversight across multiple departments and amenities Demonstrated success leading complex hospitality operations with a strong focus on member experience, service excellence, and team leadership. Experience working collaboratively with Boards, committees, and senior leadership on strategic planning and long-term club positioning. Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a positive, accountable, and service-oriented culture. Experience enhancing food and beverage operations, service standards, programming, and overall member satisfaction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with members, staff, and Club leadership. Technologically proficient with an understanding of modern club systems and operational best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead organizations through change while maintaining cultural continuity and operational excellence.
EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS A
bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus on Hospitality Management. Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of the degree. Industry certifications such as CCM, CCE, CMC, or PGA are encouraged but not required.
