Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Area Manager specializing in School Food Service to lead and oversee the food operations across multiple school sites. This energetic leader will ensure the delivery of nutritious, safe, and compliant meals while managing teams, budgets, and food safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for promoting healthy eating habits, excellent management skills, and a comprehensive understanding of health regulations related to school food services. Duties Lead and manage multiple school food service teams, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Develop, implement, and monitor menus that meet nutritional guidelines and dietary needs of students. Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies, including food service health code standards and safety protocols. Oversee food production processes, including meal preparation, portion control, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality. Manage budgets effectively by controlling costs, optimizing resources, and maintaining financial accountability for each site. Conduct regular staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and efficient team environment. Collaborate with school administrators to develop care plans that incorporate nutritional strategies for students with special dietary needs or health conditions. Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation related to food service operations and compliance tracking. Implement food safety management practices to prevent contamination or spoilage and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements. Coordinate with vendors for procurement of quality ingredients while maintaining cost efficiency. Lead efforts in health coaching initiatives aimed at promoting healthy eating habits among students. Qualifications Proven management experience in food service management or dietary department leadership within an educational or healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of health regulation policies related to school food services and food safety management practices. Experience with assisted living or acute care environments is a plus, demonstrating adaptability across care settings. Familiarity with nutrition principles, clinical nutrition concepts, physiology knowledge, and dietetics practices. Demonstrated ability to supervise teams effectively, manage budgets, and oversee food production processes. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to dietary services is preferred. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a collaborative team environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple sites simultaneously. Ability to assess student dietary needs through patient assessment techniques and develop appropriate care plans.
