Job Description

Banquet Manager Best Western Plus Burley Inn & Convention Center Primary Objective of Position The Banquet Manager oversees all aspects of a banquet or event, including set-up, serving, and cleanup while focusing on detail, quality presentation, and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for the supervision of banquet staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining. The Banquet Manager works closely with the Banquet Chef and Sales Manager.
Typical Areas of Performance Guest Relations:
Approach all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner and maintain constant communication with on-site contacts to ensure expectations are exceeded.
Event Oversight:
Meticulously plan events with staff to ensure execution is achieved at the highest levels, including inspecting table place settings, buffet tables, and ensuring proper sequence of service.
Team Leadership:
Supervise the front of house banquet team to ensure all operating procedures are followed, provide weekly work schedules, and conduct regular staff meetings.
Operational Management:
Oversee clearing, post-function cleanup, and ensure all equipment (china, glassware, silverware, audio-visual) is returned to proper locations and secured.
Collaboration:
Conduct regular meetings with Sales Managers and Banquet Chef to evaluate strategies for enhancing the guest experience.
Administrative Duties:
Manage scheduling to maximize efficiency, and accurately prepare daily summaries of events to utilize the next cycle of events. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of food and beverage operations. Excellent communication, guest relation skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure in stressful, high-pressure situations. Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by team members and guests. Flexibility to work a varied schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
Long periods of standing and walking; frequent reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects up to 50lbs.
