Job Description

The Elementary School Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the school's kitchen and meal program. This position ensures that nutritious meals are prepared and served in a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with health regulations, school policies, and food service standards. Reports To Principal Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to established menus and nutritional guidelines. Manage food ordering, inventory, and storage to ensure adequate supplies and minimize waste. Maintain accurate records of meals served, inventory, temperatures, and other required documentation. Ensure compliance with local, state and sanitation regulations. Supervise and train kitchen staff and volunteers as needed. Monitor kitchen cleanliness and ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Coordinate with school administration regarding menus, special dietary needs, and food service operations. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and vendors. Manage food service budgets and assist with cost-control measures. Participate in required food safety and professional development training. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous food service experience preferred but not required. Food Handler's Permit and/or Food Protection Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and kitchen operations. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties that require standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday. Desired Characteristics Positive attitude and servant-hearted approach.
