Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our hotel management team. This energetic leader will play a vital role in overseeing daily hotel operations, driving revenue, and ensuring exceptional guest service. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. As an Assistant General Manager, you will support the hotel's strategic goals by managing revenue and occupancy, supervising staff, and maintaining operational excellence to create a welcoming guest experience. Duties Assist the General Manager in overseeing all hotel functions, including front desk operations, housekeeping, guest services, and staff management. Lead and motivate the front desk and housekeeping team to achieve occupancy and ADR targets while delivering outstanding guest experiences. Manage daily operations such as shift changeovers, night audit oversight, cash handling, and property management system (PMS) transactions, including Choice's choice

platform. Conduct employee orientation, training sessions, and ongoing development to enhance team skills and brand service standards. Supervise recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates, participating in hiring decisions, and onboarding new employees. Oversee inventory and supply management including guest amenities, room supplies, vendor purchasing, and loss/waste control. Ensure compliance with Choice Hotels brand standards, company policies on payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and operational procedures, including franchise quality assurance (QA) inspection readiness. Handle guest inquiries and service recovery with professionalism using excellent phone etiquette and communication skills. Support sales and marketing initiatives, including local outreach, corporate/group account relationships, and OTA/rate strategy coordination with the GM. Maintain organizational efficiency through time management, shift scheduling, and delegation of tasks across front office, housekeeping, and maintenance. Experience Proven managerial experience in hospitality or a related service industry with a focus on team management and operational oversight. Demonstrated success in supervising staff through effective leadership, coaching, and team management skills. Strong background in revenue management fundamentals including rate strategy, occupancy forecasting, and cash/night audit handling. Experience with hotel PMS/POS systems (choiceADVANTAGE, OnQ, Opera, or similar), housekeeping software, and day-to-day property operations. Familiarity with recruiting techniques such as interviewing candidates and employee orientation processes. Knowledge of bookkeeping practices including payroll processing and basic financial record keeping. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse guest bases effectively. Excellent communication skills paired with organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Previous assistant manager experience in hotels or similar hospitality environments is highly desirable; familiarity with Choice Hotels brand standards (Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, etc.) is a plus.
