Now Hiring - Assistant Manager Japanese Quick-Service Restaurant (Food Court Location) We are seeking a reliable and energetic Assistant Manager to join our fast-paced Japanese quick-service restaurant located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Assistant Manager will support daily restaurant operations, supervise team members, and work alongside the team in food preparation, cooking, and customer service as needed. Key Responsibilities Support daily Front of House and Back of House operations. Supervise, train, and motivate a multicultural team of 10-15 employees. Assign daily duties and ensure team members complete their responsibilities. Assist with food preparation, cooking, plating, and customer service during busy periods. Ensure that all dishes meet company standards for quality, presentation, and portion size. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized restaurant. Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Assist with employee scheduling, attendance, labor management, and shift coverage. Monitor inventory, product labeling, proper food storage, and waste control. Assist with purchasing and receiving deliveries. Ensure the accuracy of POS transactions, cash handling, and daily sales reports. Respond to customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally. Support promotional activities and other initiatives to increase sales and repeat business. Communicate operational issues and improvement opportunities to the General Manager and ownership. Qualifications Previous restaurant, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience required. Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred. QSR, food court, or Japanese restaurant experience is a plus. Japanese-language skills are a plus but are not required. Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to work effectively with a multicultural team. Strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency. Reliable, punctual, and accountable. Willingness to learn and assist with a variety of operational tasks. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Working Hours Full-time position. Approximately 8-10 hours per shift, five days per week. Two scheduled days off per week; weekends are not guaranteed. On-site position with no hybrid or remote work option. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Lift up to 40 lbs.; lifting 10-20 lbs. is typical. Carry products up to 120 feet. Reach heights of up to 6 feet; reaching 2-4 feet is typical. Work at counter heights of approximately 36-42 inches. Safely move through aisles as narrow as 24 inches and workspaces as small as 12 inches. Perform repetitive tasks involving bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying. Compensation and Benefits $20-$25 per hour, depending on relevant restaurant and management experience. Complimentary staff meal during scheduled shifts.
