Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Shift Manager - Batching & Packaging Operations is responsible for leading all manufacturing activities during the assigned shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of finished products. This position oversees batching, packaging, sanitation, staffing, production performance, food safety, and employee development while driving continuous improvement throughout the operation. The Shift Manager is expected to be a hands-on leader who promotes accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and a culture of safety.Essential Functions:
Lead and supervise all hourly employees, leads, and production personnel during the assigned shift.- Manage all batching and packaging operations to meet daily production schedules.
- Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor labor utilization and staffing levels for maximum efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety requirements.
- Ensure product quality standards are consistently achieved
- Complete production reports and shift documentation accurately.
- Work as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MES systems preferred).
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred:
- Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with batching and packaging operations.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Experience leading teams of 20+ employees.
