We are seeking a Kitchen Manager / Chef de Cuisine who is passionate about food and creating memorable guest experiences. This is an opportunity to grow a culinary program while working alongside a management team committed to innovation, professional development, and raising the standard of hospitality in Kansas City. Position Summary The Kitchen Manager / Chef de Cuisine is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operation, including menu execution, inventory management, ordering, food quality, cleanliness, and maintenance. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a professional who can balance operational excellence with creativity and team culture. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, collaborative, and passionate about delivering exceptional food that complements one of the region's premier cocktail programs. Responsibilities Execute and maintain high-quality food standards consistent with the Verdigris brand. Develop food items that support and enhance the bar program. Maintain consistency in recipe execution, presentation, and quality. Execute all aspects of service from start to finish. Operations & Inventory Conduct monthly inventory of all food products. Manage ordering, receiving, and product pars. Monitor food costs, waste, and inventory levels. Ensure compliance with all food handling and sanitation standards. Facility & Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times. Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and repair initiatives. Ensure all operations follow established SOPs and safety standards. Leadership & Culture Partner closely with the General Manager and Director of Operations to achieve operational goals. Identify weekly opportunities for improvement and participate in management discussions. Champion a culture of hospitality, growth, acceptance, and excellence. Contribute to Verdigris' long-term vision of becoming one of the world's premier cocktail destinations. Qualifications Previous experience running a kitchen. Strong organizational and inventory management skills. Ability to train and develop staff effectively. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Passion for hospitality and guest experience. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Schedule & Expectations Verdigris is only open nights, kitchen is open late. Active participation in leadership meetings and staff development. Hands-on involvement in daily kitchen operations.
