The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) of Wellesley Country Club serves as the club's strategic and operational leader, responsible for delivering an exceptional member experience and overseeing all day-to-day operations. This role blends high-level vision with hands-on management—guiding department heads, ensuring financial strength, maintaining premier golf, racquets, dining, and recreational facilities, and upholding the club's culture and standards. Ultimately, the GM/COO is the driving force that keeps the club running smoothly, consistently elevating service, operations, and member satisfaction. Wellesley Country Club (WCC), in the heart of Norfolk County in Wellesley, Massachusetts, sixteen miles from downtown Boston and next to the campus of Babson College, is searching for a new General Manager/Chief Operating Officer for one of the top private clubs in the Northeast. The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer opportunity at Wellesley Country Club offers a rare opportunity to lead one of the region's premier private clubs. The successful candidate will be a visible, sophisticated, and engaging executive who embraces the Club's culture and traditions while providing strategic vision, operational excellence, and sound financial stewardship. ABOUT WELLESLEY COUNTRY CLUB AND COMMUNITY
Nestled in the picturesque New England town of Wellesley, Massachusetts•widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and desirable communities in the country•Wellesley Country Club enjoys a rich heritage rooted in both American and local history. The town's origins date to the earliest English settlements of the 1630s, and it has long been home to distinguished leaders, authors, artists, and innovators. The land on which the Club stands holds its own historic significance, dating to a 1665 land grant and serving as the assembly point for the West Needham Minutemen, who marched to Lexington and Concord at the outset of the American Revolution. Founded in 1910, Wellesley Country Club has established itself as one of the premier private clubs in the Northeast. Set amid rolling landscapes and anchored by a stately clubhouse, the Club is celebrated for its welcoming, family-centered culture and deeply engaged membership. Its renowned golf course reflects a remarkable architectural pedigree, having been shaped by legendary designers Donald Ross, Wayne Stiles, and Geoffrey Cornish—one of only two courses in the country influenced by all three architects. The Club's championship-caliber layout has hosted numerous prestigious USGA and Massachusetts Golf Association events throughout its history. The Club's impressive 56,000-square-foot clubhouse, completed in 2008, serves as the social heart of the membership experience, offering a variety of dining venues ranging from casual family gatherings to refined dining occasions, as well as elegant spaces for weddings, celebrations, and special events. Beyond golf, Wellesley Country Club offers an exceptional collection of amenities designed to serve members of all ages. The Club's racquet sports facilities are among the finest in the region. The Club's highly regarded tennis program offers year-round play through indoor facilities and eight outdoor clay courts, while its paddle tennis program features four courts and a dedicated paddle hut. Demonstrating a continued commitment to enhancing the member experience, the Club recently completed a transformative $15 million capital investment highlighted by a 42,000-square-foot Sports Complex featuring four indoor tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, and two state-of-the-art golf simulators.

The GM/COO will champion a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent. Working closely with the Board and leadership team, the GM/COO will provide disciplined financial stewardship and strategic oversight of the Club's operating and capital resources. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing annual operating and capital budgets, as well as supporting the Board in executing long-range strategic initiatives and annual business plans. The GM/COO will closely monitor financial performance, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and implement appropriate measures to ensure achievement of established goals and benchmarks. This individual will also oversee purchasing, inventory controls, and resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and long-term value for the membership. The GM/COO will provide direct leadership and support to the Club's senior management team, including the Chief Financial Officer, Assistant General Manager, Human Resources Director, Executive Chef, Director of Food & Beverage, Assistant General Manager, Clubhouse Manager, Director of Catering, Director of Golf, Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Racquets, Director of Aquatics, Director of Maintenance, and Director of Fitness. As a visible and approachable leader, the successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence while maintaining strong relationships with members, guests, and employees. Responsibilities include talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and personnel development, with a particular emphasis on cultivating future leaders within the organization. A commitment to continuous professional growth and active engagement within the club management industry is expected to ensure the Club remains at the forefront of best practices and emerging trends. The GM/COO will oversee all aspects of Club operations, ensuring seamless execution, exceptional service delivery, and alignment with the Club's strategic objectives. EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus on Hospitality Management. Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of the degree. Industry certifications such as CCM, CCE, CMC, or PGA are encouraged but not required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The club offers an excellent bonus and benefits package, including association membership.
Salary Range:
