Taproom Manager Job Description Silver Branch is synonymous with Gemütlichkeit—a sense of warmth and camaraderie that lifts spirits and provides a welcoming atmosphere. The Taproom Manager sets the tone and the stage for the entire guest experience, from ensuring cleanliness, to training and managing staff, to ensuring lighting and music create the right ambiance. A key objective is to elevate standards for hospitality and to create a community vibe and overall Gemütlichkeit. Most importantly, the Taproom Manager inspires the tone and the culture for the employees. High-performing employees start with high-performing managers. Create a corporate training program that extends beyond initial hiring, with ongoing education and communication of policies to guide our taproom team to be the best in the industry. Leading by example and through mentoring, the Taproom manager motivates the Silver Branch Rockville Beerworks team to be outstanding in their field, to achieve business objectives and to be driven to get successful outcomes because they love what they do. The Taproom Manager at Silver Branch Rockville Beerworks will work directly with Executive Management in developing the strategic direction of the taproom, beer-to-go counter, kitchen, and events space. Taproom Manager Responsibilities Effectively manage cash for the business and grow top-line revenue through sales techniques with staff while improving bottom-line profit through reduction of mistakes and unnecessary waste Work with a project manager mindset and be hands-on in all aspects of the business Implement training programs for all new hires with a strong focus on sales, beer and excellent hospitality Work with Human Resources to recruit, onboard, and train high-performing Taproom and Kitchen staff to achieve business objectives Establish and manage cost efficiencies and overall financial health for Lagerhaus & Biergarten, including tracking and managing food, staff, and non-consumables costs. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Develop strategic plans and communicate business goals to employees to motivate and inspire engagement from staff. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with Silver Branch's policies. Formulate policies and procedures to ensure consistency and accountability. Responsible for maintaining a positive environment for all staff to work in Highly personable, effective in communicating with guests and capable of developing a successful taproom team that builds regular clientele and generates repeat business Process online and togo orders for pickup and manage back end of the POS while managing the floor Responsible for establishing and teaching Silver Branch Brewing Company standards of service while striving for continual improvement Handle customer complaints; resolve issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner Maintain sales records and track cash receipts Publish weekly schedules for Managers and hourly staff and oversee and approve the kitchen schedule to align with labor percentage goals Enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and company principles Oversee food and beverage preparation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards Ensure customer satisfaction with all aspects of the taproom and their experience visiting Silver Branch Handle customer complaints; resolve issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner Ensure compliance with local and state alcoholic beverage regulations Provide weekly analysis on the raw cost of consumables and insight into improved menu direction Effectively ensure that kitchen and taproom inventories are maintained and that orders are placed in a timely manner Ensure daily inspections of taproom and equipment are being consistently done to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards Periodically evaluate taproom and other equipment for repairs and maintenance. With other managers and staff, conduct reasonable maintenance in house while scheduling service and repairs when necessary Prepare and submit operations reports and other documentation requested by executive management Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills, Abilities, Experience Minimum 5 years of combined restaurant, taproom, or hospitality management experience Strong supervisory and leadership skills Strong organization and intuitive communication skills to discern and address the needs of customers, employees, stakeholders, and company leadership Highly analytical, with a strong desire to study numbers and formulate decisions in consultation with executive management Must be a Certified Beer Server Cicerone® and willing to pursue the Certified Cicerone® with a strong passion for beer, and a desire to teach others Goal-oriented with ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity, critical thinking, good judgment, sense of urgency and honesty Experience in quality control, policy adherence, and other protocols Strong understanding of product and labor costs with proven track record of hitting and maintaining target goals Ability to troubleshoot issues and/or pivot plans quickly in order to coordinate corrective actions needed Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software with ability to learn new technical systems including but not limited to inventory management software and the backend of our point of sales system Physical Requirements Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly and tran sport items to and from the kitchen on a slick uneven surface Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computers Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time Must be able to lift 35 lbs via food or beverage trays or required equipment needed to perform specific job duties Available to work a variety of hours including weekends Must be able to lift 135 pounds, at times Frequently bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry, wipe, and squat as necessary
