Rockport Harbor Hotel, a 24-room luxury boutique hotel in the heart of coastal Maine, is seeking an Assistant Hotel Manager / Restaurant Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our 40-seat lobby restaurant and bar, The Oak Room, while also serving as a key member of our hotel management team. This is an ideal opportunity for a strong restaurant leader who enjoys being on the floor, developing a great team, and creating memorable guest experiences—but is also ready for something more. You'll work closely with our General Manager, gain broader hotel management experience, and serve as Manager on Duty and second-in-command of the property when needed. Off What You'll Do:
Take primary responsibility for the day-to-day front-of-house operation of Oak Room, i ncluding breakfast and dinner service . Lead from the floor during key services, specifically dinner —supporting staff, engaging with guests, and ensuring smooth execution of food service. Train, Coach and develop our restaurant team. Maintain high standards for service, hospitality, cleanliness, beverage service, and restaurant presentation. Assist with labor management, inventory, purchasing, cost controls, POS procedures, marketing, and revenue growth. Partner closely with our Culinary Manager to create strong communication and execution between the front and back of house and work along side the CM to complete monthly inventories and monitor cost controls. Work alongside the General Manager on overall hotel operations and serve as Hotel Manager on Duty two days a week and when GM is away from property. Step into broader property leadership during the GM's absence, supporting the front desk, resolving guest concerns, and addressing operational issues with confidence and sound judgment.
What We're Looking For:
Proven restaurant or Food & Beverage leadership experience, preferably in an upscale, full-service, or hotel restaurant environment. A confident, hard working, hands-on leader who enjoys being part of the operation—not managing from an office. Strong communication, organization, scheduling, and team-development skills. Working knowledge of restaurant labor, inventory, cost controls, and POS systems. Excellent judgment and a calm, professional approach to guest and employee situations. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods. Hotel management experience is a plus, but not required for an exceptional restaurant leader ready to take the next step in their hospitality career. Why Join Us?
