Dining Room Manager - Member Experience Birmingham Athletic Club | Bloomfield Hills, Michigan An Outstanding Opportunity to Join One of Michigan's Premier Family Clubs The Birmingham Athletic Club (BAC) is seeking a visible and hospitality-driven Dining Room Manager - Member Experience to lead our front-of-house dining operations and deliver exceptional experiences for our members and their guests. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished hospitality professional who enjoys building relationships and leading talented service teams while creating memorable member experiences within a vibrant private club environment. Reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager, the Dining Room Manager - Member Experience will oversee the daily operation of our dining and bar operations while serving as a key leader within the Club's Food & Beverage department. About Birmingham Athletic Club Founded in 1955, Birmingham Athletic Club is one of southeast Michigan's most respected family-oriented private clubs. Our 580 member families enjoy exceptional tennis, pickleball, platform tennis, squash, aquatics, fitness, dining, and year-round social programming. The Club has experienced significant investment in recent years, including major facility enhancements and expanded amenities, positioning BAC for continued growth and an exceptional member experience. Food & Beverage is a vital part of our culture, generating approximately $2.1 million in annual revenue through member dining, bar operations, private events, family programming, and club social events. Our dining venues serve as gathering places where relationships are built and members expect genuine hospitality delivered with consistency and professionalism. Position Overview The Dining Room Manager - Member Experience leader is responsible for creating an exceptional member dining experience through visible leadership and operational excellence resulting in outstanding service delivery standards. This position directs all front-of-house operations, including the leadership of servers, bartenders, server assistants, bussers, and food runners while working collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure seamless execution. Success in this role is measured not simply by efficient operations, but by member satisfaction, staff development, and the ability to cultivate lasting relationships throughout the Club. The successful candidate will be highly visible throughout service and comfortable interacting with members on a daily and routine basis. Primary Responsibilities The Dining Room Manager will: Lead all front-of-house dining operations for lunch, dinner, member events, and club functions. Recruit, hire, train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate service staff. Develop a culture centered on hospitality, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. Maintain an active presence on the dining room floor during service periods. Build meaningful relationships with members while learning individual preferences and service expectations. Ensure exceptional execution of all member dining experiences. Conduct daily pre-service meetings focused on service standards, and continuous improvement. Coordinate closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to ensure seamless service execution. Manage reservations, seating plans, staffing levels, and dining room flow. Monitor labor costs, scheduling efficiency, productivity, and departmental budgets. Address member concerns promptly and professionally while creating positive outcomes. Ensure compliance with Club policies, sanitation standards, food safety regulations, and liquor laws. Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is a hospitality professional who understands the unique nature of private club service. Recognize members by name. Visible during every meal period. Coach employees through encouragement and accountability. Believe every interaction is an opportunity to strengthen member loyalty. Leader on the dining room floor, setting the tone through professionalism and attention to detail. Comfortable mentoring a new server, collaborating with the Executive Chef, resolving member concerns with diplomacy, and ensuring operational excellence.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
Minimum two years of progressive management experience in a private club, luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or comparable hospitality environment. Demonstrated success leading front-of-house service teams. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with scheduling and labor management. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities. A genuine passion for hospitality and member engagement. Food Safety Certification preferred. Private club experience is preferred; however, exceptional candidates from luxury hospitality environments are encouraged to apply. Why Birmingham Athletic Club?
