Job Description
PURPOSE:
To provide excellent customer service to customers and staff while ensuring safe, secure, and efficient store operations.STATUS:
Reports to Front End ManagerRESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Customer Service Treat people fairly, consistently and with respect. Ensure efficient, informative and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards. Treat staff and managers with consistency and fairness, in a style appropriate to a cooperative work environment. Ensure that communications are clear, direct and respectful Ensure the integrity of Bluff Country Co-op's values in decision-making and interactions with others. Act as a model to all employees following the employee handbook. Provide attentive and courteous customer service 2. Leadership Direct cashier activities to best meet current needs of the store and complete store conditioning mandates up to communicated standards. Support cashiers by assisting with trouble shooting and training, challenging customer situations, and ensuring breaks are taken. Facilitate the best use of staff resources in the event of a staff absence, including calling in Front End staff to work if needed and alerting Managers regarding absences in other departments. Communicate in a timely manner with other Floor Managers and Management about problems or concerns. 3. Department Operations Execute accurate, efficient, and safe handling of cash and credit deposits via cash reconciliation and deposit procedures and troubleshoot discrepancies before passing on the daily cash receipts to the Bookkeeper. Ensure the store is properly and securely opened and closed. Monitor the Housebank and prepare change orders accurately ensuring sufficient change is always available and accounted for. Serve as the primary point person for answering the telephone within 3 rings and answering callers' questions or directing them to someone who can. 4. Safety & Security Ensure the department's compliance with all state and federal food safety laws. Ensure FIFO when facing, stocking, and cleaning shelves. Handle incidents including but not limited to shoplifters, disorderly customers, and medical emergencies in accordance with established procedures. Handle all types of emergent situations and take appropriate action. Assure department's compliance with all policies in the Co-op's Safety & Security handbook. Manage ice and snow removal as needed. 5. Other Duties Attend/complete training as assigned. Perform other tasks assigned by the Front End Manager.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, telephone, and various office equipment continuously. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to be present and working in assigned area for up to 3 hours without rest. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs or ladder frequently. Ability to reach above shoulder height occasionally. Ability to talk and hear to communicate with customers. Finger and hand dexterity with ability to grasp and hold items of different sizes. Vision ability - close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception. Ability to read register screen and product and shelf labels.QUALIFICATIONS
Well-organized, pays attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular, predictable attendance. Good communication skills with suppliers, co-workers, customers. Experience purchasing retail natural foods. Familiarity with department products. Computer literacy. Willingness to work weekends and evenings as scheduled. Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing requirements of the job.BENEFITS 20
