Front of House ManagerOverview We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Front of House Manager to lead our hospitality team and deliver exceptional guest experiences. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure top-tier customer service, and manage staff to create a welcoming and efficient environment. Your leadership will drive the success of our restaurant by maintaining high standards in service, hospitality, and operational efficiency. Duties & Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and coach all front-of-house staff, including hosts, servers, bartenders, and support personnel. Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD), ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining exceptional guest experiences. Effectively greet guests, engage in casual conversation, anticipate needs, and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally. Foster a culture of hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and service excellence. Schedule FOH and bar staff to meet business demands, events, and seasonal traffic. Ensure proper employee clock-in/out procedures, payroll accuracy, weekly tip-outs, and labor compliance. Complete weekly team memos and management updates. Train, onboard, and coach team members on: Service standards Food safety and food handling POS systems Wine and beverage knowledge Hospitality expectations Provide ongoing performance feedback, identify growth opportunities, and administer coaching or disciplinary action when appropriate. Act as liaison between the retail store and wine bar to ensure seamless operations. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and appearance throughout all front-of-house areas. Enforce food safety regulations and health department standards. Oversee opening and closing procedures, including: Bar setup and stocking Cash handling and reconciliation Cashier reports Securing the building Prepare beverages according to established recipes and measuring standards while providing personalized wine and beverage recommendations. Analyze inventory movement and sales trends to anticipate operational needs. Identify opportunities for new products, menu development, promotions, and increased bar traffic. Maintain awareness of sales goals, budgets, and financial performance while working to achieve revenue targets. Provide food and beverage service during peak business periods and support retail operations whenever bar volume allows. Job Requirements Previous experience as a bartender and/or server required. Lead bartender, lead server, or restaurant/bar management experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of:
Wine, beer, and beverage service Formal wine presentation Food handling and sanitation Bar equipment and operations State and local alcohol service regulations Thorough understanding of gourmet food and wine pairings. Ability to multitask while delivering attentive, high-quality guest service. Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills. Ability to professionally and safely manage intoxicated guests. Strong collaboration and communication skills with both bar and retail staff. Professional appearance consistent with the City Vineyard brand. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry trays, glassware, food, and supplies. Compensation $12/hour during bartender or serving shifts $25/hour during scheduled MOD shifts Bonus program Medical insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Preferred Skills Proven leadership experience in restaurant or hospitality management. Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills. Experience hiring, interviewing, training, coaching, and developing staff. Working knowledge of POS systems (Micros, Aloha, or comparable platforms). Strong cash handling, inventory management, and basic financial analysis skills. Experience with budgeting, labor management, and operational planning. Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively between kitchen, front-of-house, retail, and ownership teams.
