Job Description

General Manager Roost Fried Chicken | Bozeman, Montana Bozeman's Home for Southern Goodness Roost Fried Chicken is Bozeman's beloved Southern restaurant, built on fresh ingredients, traditional recipes with a twist, and the kind of hospitality that keeps people coming back. We're more than fried chicken. We're a place where great food, great people, and genuine hospitality come together to create something our community loves. We're proud of what we've built, and we're excited about where we're headed next. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a General Manager who can help lead that next chapter. This isn't just about running shifts or maintaining the status quo. It's an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a restaurant that already has deep roots in the community. The right person for this role cares deeply about doing things well. You notice when a process creates unnecessary friction. You notice when communication breaks down. You notice when a team member needs support before a small issue becomes a larger one. You notice opportunities to improve the guest experience. But your first instinct isn't to start changing everything. Your first instinct is to understand. You ask questions. You learn how things work. You look for patterns. You take the time to understand what makes Roost special before suggesting improvements. Then, when something can be done better, you help move it forward thoughtfully and collaboratively. You're comfortable making decisions without needing constant direction. You take responsibility for outcomes, communicate clearly, and understand that leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about exercising good judgment, building trust, and helping people move in the same direction. As General Manager, you'll lead and develop a high-performing front and back of house team through hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. You'll oversee scheduling, labor management, inventory, ordering and training. You'll ensure that our food, service, and hospitality standards remain consistently high while helping create systems that make excellence easier to achieve every day. You'll also play an important role in strengthening our culture. We believe great hospitality starts with great people. That means creating an environment where team members feel supported, accountable, and proud of the work they do. The person who thrives in this role brings restaurant leadership experience, strong operational instincts, and a track record of helping teams perform at a high level. They know how to balance hospitality with accountability, maintain standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, and make decisions that align with the long-term direction of the business. Most importantly, they're someone others trust. Not because they're the loudest voice in the room, but because they consistently make thoughtful decisions, follow through on commitments, and lead with integrity. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Instead of sending a generic cover letter, tell us about a time you helped improve something. It could be a team, a process, an operation, a guest experience, or a culture. What was happening? How did you approach it? What was the outcome? Resumes are welcome, but we're most interested in how you think, how you lead, and how you help people succeed together.
