Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented, energetic, and highly organized Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house operations. In this dual role, you will be responsible for both culinary execution and business-minded kitchen management. You will design creative menus, manage food and labor costs, supervise and mentor a dedicated kitchen team, and ensure that our members experience consistently exceptional dining, whether ordering from the casual grill menu or attending a large-scale catered event.
Key Responsibilities:
Culinary Excellence:
Plan and design innovative menus for the Bar & Grill, seasonal events such as Membership Appreciation Dinners, and private banquets. Prep and cook high-quality dishes consistently.
Kitchen Operations:
Oversee daily back-of-house operations, ensuring all inventory is tracked, food supplies are ordered efficiently, and equipment is properly maintained.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, hire, train, and schedule kitchen personnel. Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performance kitchen environment.
Financial Management:
Manage the kitchen budget by controlling food, beverage, and labor costs. Conduct monthly inventory processes and optimize waste control.
Safety & Sanitation:
Enforce strict health, safety, and fire department food safety regulations. Maintain a pristine, sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
Event Coordination:
Collaborate closely with club management and event coordinators to execute seamless banquet operations, buffet layouts, and special event catering.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
3-5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced or high-volume kitchen, with at least 2 years in a kitchen management or supervisory role (experience in a country club or upscale private venue is a plus).
Certifications:
Valid SERV Safe or Certified Food Manager certification required.
Skills:
Expert knowledge of culinary arts, line cooking techniques, portion control, and plate presentation. Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, POS systems) for tracking inventory and schedules.
Leadership:
Proven ability to direct, delegate, and manage a team under pressure.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
Flexibility:
Open availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on club event schedules.
