Job Description

Overview Located in downtown Exeter, NH, Vino e Vivo is a casual wine bar and restaurant inspired by the wine bars of Europe. With 24 seats indoors and 34 seats on our outdoor patio for seasonal dining it creates a unique wine and dining experience featuring the cuisine of 2023 James Beard Semifinalist for Best Chef Northeast, Paul Callahan. We are looking for a FOH Manager who is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Vino e Vivo in the absence of the General Manager and otherwise supports the General Manager in all facets of running the Front of House (FOH) at Vino e Vivo.
Activities & Responsibilities:
  • The FOH Manager will report to the General Manager (GM)
  • Daily opening and closing, trading with the GM
  • Support the activities of the VeV membership-based wine club Ensure the restaurant front of house, dining room and patio (when open) are clean and presentable.
Conduct pre-shift briefings with servers to communicate menu changes to the team. Play music at an appropriate volume based on the dining room noise. Post the servers & side worksheet and stock stations with necessary supplies (POS, to-go items). Complete cleaning tasks and ensure tables and bar are polished. Maintain a comfortable temperature and suitable ambiance. Foster an environment of trust and respect among staff. Communicate daily specials to the team. Distribute tasks fairly during each shift. Oversee team performance and ensure efficiency. Assess team members & abilities to promote satisfaction and workflow. Adjust server hours to maximize labor efficiency as needed. Ensure food quality and presentation meet standards and communicate with the BOH as necessary. Train new hires and offer development opportunities for experienced staff. Provide feedback and recognition throughout the shift. Promote teamwork with hands-on leadership. Manage no-show situations effectively. Handle incident reports and foodborne illness issues. Deliver exceptional customer experiences. Welcome guests and address complaints promptly. Monitor business fluctuations for smooth service. Resolve customer issues and approve exceptions to policy. Open and close register, count drawer, and resolve discrepancies. Process discounts, comps, and voids according to policy. Adhere to cash handling and reconciliation procedures. Perform supervisory-level POS tasks. Working with the GM to advertise events via our mailing list, Facebook, Instagram, our website and any other social media outlets Working with the management team to establish the overall restaurant schedule and pacing Schedule - Currently, Vino e Vivo is open Tuesday through Saturday with occasional Monday events Knowledge /Experience - The FOH Manager should have a minimum of three years of experience in hospitality and fine dining and a strong knowledge of food and wine. The FOH Manager should have a general love of hospitality and understand the value of building relationships with guests and staff. Education in wine through an accredited program such as WSET, SWE or the Court of Master Sommeliers is a plus, but we are willing to train.
