Job Description
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the restaurant. This role oversees all aspects of operations, including guest experience, team development, financial performance, food quality, and facility management. Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop management and hourly team members. Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and hospitality. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback. Lead daily manager meetings, pre-shift meetings, and communication initiatives. Create succession plans and develop future leaders within the organization. Operations Management Ensure consistent execution of company standards, policies, and procedures. Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations. Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service standards. Monitor daily operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and guest satisfaction. Address operational challenges and implement solutions proactively. Financial Management Maintain full responsibility for restaurant Profit & Loss (P&L) performance. Develop and manage weekly/monthly Forecasts. Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs). Control labor, food, beverage, and operating costs while maximizing profitability. Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve margins. Guest Experience Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality and service. Resolve guest concerns and complaints professionally and promptly. Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements as needed. Build relationships with regular guests and the local community. Maintain strong online reputation management and review response practices. Sales & Business Development Drive revenue growth through local marketing and community engagement. Develop partnerships with local businesses, hotels, and organizations. Support special events, promotions, and catering opportunities. Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets. Identify opportunities to increase guest frequency and average check. People & Scheduling Develop labor schedules that balance guest service and profitability. Monitor labor productivity and staffing levels. Ensure compliance with employment standards and workplace policies. Promote employee engagement, retention, and recognition programs. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and liquor regulations. Maintain food safety and workplace safety standards. Ensure all required certifications and licenses remain current. Conduct regular facility inspections and corrective action plans. Inventory & Purchasing Manage inventory levels and ordering processes. Monitor food, beverage, and supply costs. Conduct regular inventory counts and variance analysis. Work with vendors to maintain quality standards and pricing. Facility Management Ensure the restaurant and equipment are maintained to company standards. Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance programs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for guests and employees. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) The General Manager is accountable for: Revenue growth Profitability Labor cost management Food & beverage cost management Guest satisfaction scores Online review ratings Employee retention and engagement Health and safety compliance Overall restaurant performance Qualifications 3+ years of restaurant General Manager experience. 5+ years of restaurant management experience. Proven experience leading teams of 25+ employees. Strong financial acumen with P&L management experience. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to drive sales, profitability, and guest satisfaction. Knowledge of food safety, labor laws, and restaurant operating systems.
