Purpose:
The Distribution Center Shift Manager located at 230-79 Rockaway Blvd. Springfield Gardens, NY 11413 supervises warehouse and distribution center operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient execution of receiving, outbound fulfillment, and replenishment activities. This role maintains productivity standards, supports team performance, and ensures adherence to safety, compliance, and operational procedures across retail, restaurant, and duty-free shop operations.
Essential Functions:
Supervises distribution center associates during assigned shifts to ensure proper execution of receiving, outbound fulfillment, and overnight replenishment activities while maintaining productivity standards and meeting operational deadlines
Ensures all warehouse personnel follow proper opening and closing procedures, safety protocols, and shift inspection requirements to verify merchandise organization, storage standards, and compliance with asset protection requirements
Coordinates incoming and outgoing freight operations including receiving, counting, processing, and distributing merchandise; reports shortages, overages, and damaged goods to management within required timeframes while maintaining accurate documentation
Assigns work tasks and priorities to warehouse associates based on operational needs; provides on-the-job coaching and training to ensure proper execution of stocking, receiving, and distribution procedures and company standards
Manages inventory accuracy during the shift including product rotation, temperature control procedures, and reverse logistics; utilizes SAP, CrunchTime, and retail management systems to track stock levels, process orders, and maintain accurate records
Maintains warehouse organization including fixtures, equipment storage, bin locations, and physical inventory processes; assists with cycle counts and inventory preparations while investigating and reporting inventory variances
Supports compliance with food safety protocols including FIFO stock rotation and expiration date monitoring; maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with safety regulations and equipment maintenance standards
Assists with monitoring shift performance metrics including inbound throughput and labor efficiency; reports operational issues and escalates complex matters to the Distribution & Logistics Manager appropriately
Collaborates with management on staffing needs, operational improvements, and shift performance while providing feedback on process efficiency and team performance
Operates company vehicles safely and maintains compliance with all transportation and safety requirements where applicable

This position typically reports to the Distribution & Logistics Manager within the assigned location
The Distribution Center Shift Manager position as described falls under the Fair Labor Standards Act as a non-exempt position
Requires scheduling flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk extensively throughout warehouses and retail locations for extended periods
Lift, carry, and move inventory items up to 50 pounds regularly
Visual acuity to review inventory records, conduct physical counts, and analyze data reports
Work in varying warehouse and retail environments with different temperature and noise levels
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
Education and Experience:
The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 3 years: In a supervisory role: 1 year of experience supervising warehouse, distribution, or operations teams preferred
In a technical role: Requires 2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, stock handling, or supply chain coordination
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field can count for 1 of the 3-year requirement
Specialized Training:
Knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory handling procedures
Basic understanding of food safety protocols and HACCP principles preferred
Understanding of safety regulations and asset protection protocols in warehouse environments
Warehouse management systems training (SAP, CrunchTime preferred)
OSHA safety and hazardous material handling awareness
Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:
Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet operational deadlines in fast-paced environments
Solid analytical skills with ability to identify inventory discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn warehouse management systems including SAP and CrunchTime quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to provide clear instructions, document procedures, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Problem-solving abilities to resolve operational issues and escalate complex matters appropriately
