Job Description
Angie's Soul House is looking for a dependable, hands-on Front of House Manager to help lead our service operations in a fast-paced, high-volume takeout restaurant. This is an active working-management position for someone who understands that great service depends on organization, order accuracy, communication, cleanliness, efficiency, and accountability. The Front of House Manager will help oversee our Line Servers and front counter operations while ensuring customers are greeted professionally, orders are entered and packaged accurately, wait times are communicated, pickup and delivery orders are organized, and customer concerns are handled appropriately. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can set expectations, support the team during busy service, identify problems quickly, and maintain a professional and organized front-of-house operation. Compensation will reflect the candidate's experience managing restaurant service operations, supervising employees, handling high-volume customer service, maintaining order and cash accuracy, and leading a team effectively. Responsibilities Oversee daily front-of-house operations during assigned shifts. Supervise and provide direction to Line Servers and other assigned front-of-house employees. Ensure employees are positioned appropriately and understand their responsibilities before service begins. Monitor walk-in, telephone, online, pickup, and third-party delivery orders to keep service organized and efficient. Ensure orders are entered, portioned, packaged, verified, and handed to the correct customer or delivery driver accurately. Monitor customer wait times and ensure delays are communicated appropriately. Coordinate with the kitchen regarding order status, delays, unavailable items, special requests, and service concerns. Maintain an organized counter, service line, pickup area, beverage station, and customer-facing workspace. Ensure containers, bags, utensils, condiments, beverages, and other service supplies are properly stocked. Monitor portion standards for items served by the front-of-house team. Handle customer questions and routine service concerns professionally. Address escalated customer complaints appropriately and involve ownership or senior management when necessary. Train new Line Servers on menu knowledge, POS procedures, order accuracy, packaging, portion standards, customer service, sanitation, and workplace expectations. Coach employees on performance, communication, speed, accuracy, professionalism, and teamwork. Hold employees accountable to attendance, uniform, service, cleanliness, and performance expectations. Monitor cash drawers and transaction accuracy and report discrepancies promptly. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including assigned cash-handling responsibilities. Help maintain opening, closing, restocking, and cleaning checklists. Ensure front-of-house food-safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures are followed. Assist with scheduling input, shift coverage, employee training, and performance feedback as directed by ownership or management. Help interview and evaluate potential front-of-house employees. Address operational problems quickly and communicate unresolved issues to ownership or management. Support the team during high-volume periods and step into Line Server responsibilities when necessary. Lead by example and remain actively involved in daily service. What We're Looking For The right candidate: Has strong restaurant, takeout, fast-casual, hospitality, or high-volume customer-service experience. Has previous experience supervising or leading employees. Can confidently lead a front-of-house team during busy service. Understands the importance of order accuracy, organization, speed, communication, and customer service. Is comfortable working hands-on alongside the team. Can give clear direction while maintaining a respectful and professional work environment. Holds employees accountable to established standards. Remains calm and solution-focused when service becomes busy. Handles customer concerns professionally without becoming defensive or escalating the situation. Notices problems before they affect multiple customers or orders. Understands that accurate packaging and order verification are critical in a takeout operation. Maintains a clean and organized customer-facing environment. Is dependable, punctual, organized, and consistent. Can train employees patiently while reinforcing expectations. Is willing to receive direction, apply feedback, and work collaboratively with ownership and management. Qualifications Previous experience as a Front of House Manager, Shift Manager, Restaurant Supervisor, Head Server, Service Manager, or similar restaurant leadership role preferred. Experience in high-volume takeout, fast-casual, quick-service, Soul Food, Southern, Caribbean, or similar restaurant environments is a plus. Experience supervising, training, or coaching employees. Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills. Experience operating restaurant POS systems and processing cash and card transactions. Strong attention to detail and order accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities during high-volume service. Basic math and cash-handling skills. Strong verbal communication skills. Knowledge of food-safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures. Ability to stand for extended periods and remain active throughout the shift. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-volume service periods as scheduled. Food-handler certification or willingness to obtain one if required.
