Assistant General Manager About Us Shiraz Kitchen & Wine Bar is a Persian-Mediterranean restaurant rooted in a single idea: Define Hospitality. Not perform it. Not approximate it. Define it — every shift, every guest, every plate. Our White Plains dining room (80 Mamaroneck Ave) has earned the
MICHELIN
Bib Gourmand (2020-2022) , Wine Spectator Award of Excellence , and a New York Times 'Very Good' review. Our cellar runs deep — 235+ bottles built around biodynamic and small-production wines. Our kitchen runs on the unwritten Tehran recipes of our chef-owner's mother. We're looking for an Assistant General Manager who reads a room before it asks to be read. The Role You'll be the GM's right hand and the dining room's compass. On any given service, you're the one staff look to when the floor gets loud, the one a regular catches first when something feels off, and the one the kitchen trusts to call the timing. You'll own the rhythm of service while the GM owns the strategy — and over time, with the right person, this role grows into a GM seat of its own. What You'll Do Run the floor during peak services — pre-shift through last check Lead, schedule, and develop a team of servers, runners, hosts, and bartenders Partner with the wine team to keep beverage knowledge sharp across the FOH Handle guest issues with grace before they ever reach the GM Oversee reservations flow, table turns, and OpenTable/private dining coordination Maintain compliance — alcohol service, food safety, NY labor law, sanitation Support inventory, ordering, vendor coordination, and end-of-night reporting Help train and onboard new hires to our service standards Step in as acting GM when needed What You Bring 3+ years in a supervisory FOH role at a full-service restaurant; fine-dining or wine-driven concepts strongly preferred Genuine wine literacy — you can speak about a Châteauneuf or a biodynamic Loire Chenin with the same ease as a guest asking for 'something light and dry' A leadership style that's calm, clear, and direct — staff should want to do their best work for you, not just because you asked Comfort with reservation and POS systems (OpenTable, Toast, or similar) NY Food Protection Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 30 days) Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays — this is a restaurant Working knowledge of Persian or Mediterranean cuisine is a plus, not a prerequisite — we'll teach what matters Compensation & Benefits $75,000 base salary Performance bonus structure tied to service standards and revenue targets Paid time off A clear, deliberate growth path toward General Manager How to Apply Send a resume and a short note — not a cover letter — telling us about a service you're proud of and one you'd handle differently if you could. hello @shirazkitchen.
