Job Description

Lead Our Grand Opening Team! Chopp Boxx Hibachi, Pho & Sushi Bar is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead the culinary operations of our first brick-and-mortar restaurant. This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in launching a growing brand that has built a strong reputation through its successful food truck operations. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can oversee kitchen operations, develop team members, maintain high food quality standards, and help establish the culture and systems that will drive the success of our new restaurant. Position Summary The Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, including food quality, kitchen staff management, inventory control, food safety compliance, labor management, and daily kitchen performance. This position will work closely with ownership to ensure that Chopp Boxx delivers an exceptional guest experience while maintaining profitability and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, highly organized, and passionate about creating great food while developing a high-performing team. Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff. Create and maintain a positive, professional, and accountable kitchen culture. Schedule kitchen staff and manage labor costs. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Lead daily pre-shift meetings and ensure team readiness. Kitchen Operations Oversee all food preparation and execution to ensure consistency and quality. Ensure all menu items meet Chopp Boxx standards for taste, presentation, and portioning. Monitor ticket times and kitchen efficiency. Develop and implement kitchen systems, procedures, and standards. Assist with menu development and seasonal specials as needed. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all health department regulations. Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards. Conduct routine inspections of kitchen and storage areas. Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures. Inventory & Cost Control Manage inventory levels and ordering. Monitor food costs and minimize waste. Receive and inspect deliveries for quality and accuracy. Maintain vendor relationships and communicate purchasing needs. Grand Opening Responsibilities Assist with opening preparations and kitchen setup. Establish kitchen workflows and operational procedures. Help build and develop the opening team. Work closely with ownership to ensure a successful restaurant launch. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of kitchen management or executive chef experience. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Experience managing food costs, inventory, and labor budgets. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Experience with hibachi, sushi, pho, Asian cuisine, or high-volume restaurant operations preferred. ServSafe Manager Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
