Job Description

Fetch is hiring a manager at our coffee shop on SE Bybee Blvd.

Position DescriptionWe are hiring a coffee shop manager for our coffee shop on SE Bybee Blvd in Portland. This role is integral to continuing our goal of always offering a friendly, welcoming environment with our customers and community, and behind the bar. This position will oversee/ manage/ organize all daily operations and work with our team to continue to deliver on our top priorities: To provide excellent customer service, to showcase our coffees through quality drinks and beans, and to highlight the mission to help dogs in need. The manager will also work closely with the owner to grow the business, collaborate, and problem-solve. They will be responsible for managing the coffee shop in its entirely, with the exceptions of payroll, building-related expenses (utilities, insurance, etc.), hiring / firing, and all applicable admin surrounding human resources.

Ultimately, this role will continue to improve organization and efficiency in the coffee shop, promote a positive work environment, help to increase profitability, continue to enhance and boost our positive customer engagement, and continue to build on our customer base as a favorite local spot.

This position is full time, varying from 32-40 hours/week. Hours are split between managerial tasks and barista tasks.

ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day operations of the caf .Maintain an efficient, clean environment.

Manage staff schedule / oversee scheduling which is currently conducted by the assistant manager.

Onboard and train new baristas.

Train and oversee all staff on drink preparation and proper use of coffee equipment at a specialty coffee standard.

Cultivate an inclusive, positive work environment where team members feel valued, motivated, and empowered to grow skills.

Lead by example on the floor, promoting a culture of warmth, active listening, and hospitality.

Nurture friendly/ positive relationships with customers to increase loyalty and continue to boost our reputation.

Coordinate with vendors and order all supplies as needed (coffee drink supplies, disposable items, milk, pastries, sandwiches, overall supplies for the shop).Maintain updated records revenues and expenses as related to cost of goods sold.
Note:
Revenues are managed through Square with easy reporting. Embrace and encourage our low-waste policy across the business.

Add / remove menu items based on seasonality and customers preferences.

Coordinate all signage throughout the shop with owner (for example rotating specials and other menus)Work directly with staff for positive team and customer interactionsWork with staff on conflict resolution if needed for both team members and customers with the core goal to both keep a positive work environment and to deliver excellent customer serviceEnsure all cafe areas are clean and tidy. Must have a strong eye for customer-facing appearance and experience.

Organize or coordinate organization of the back storage room while sharing space with the roastery operations such as green coffee.

Manage all tasks and side work with staff.

Coordinate barista responsibilities involving the roasting business as needed (bag filling, order prep, etc.)Assist owner on social media strategy and execution as needed.

Work with both customers and staff to better communicate our mission to offer both specialty coffee without compromise, and to donate to dogs in need. This includes managing the challenge of communication with customers that as dog friendly as we are outside and with our mission, we cannot allow dogs inside due to both Multnomah County health codes and manufacturing health codes.

Other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements and skillsManagement experience at a coffee shop/caf .Hands-on experience with professional coffee brewing equipment and latte art.

Must be available to work during open hours, including weekends and holidays, except for pre-arranged vacations or breaks. They will be responsible for finding a cover for or covering any open shifts or last minute call-outs. Proven ability to organize and order products and supplies with strong demand planning skills.

Strong customer service experience.

Ability to coordinate multiple deadlines or events at any given time.

Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays).Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate the team and work closely with the owner. Not RequirementsBecause we roast coffee, we occasionally need to move large bags of green beans into or around the roastery. If you are willing and able, we will ask you to assist with this process with no one lifting heavy items without the assistance of another team member or equipment. However, this is not a requirement of the position. No hiring decisions will be based on this possible task.
