Job Description
Back of House Manager Position Overview The Back of House Manager is responsible for leading the kitchen team and ensuring that every guest receives safe, high-quality food in a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment. This role plays a key part in developing team members, maintaining operational standards, and creating a strong culture within the restaurant. The ideal candidate is a confident leader who enjoys developing people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in doing things the right way. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop Back of House team members and leaders. Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to Chick-fil-A standards. Train new team members on food preparation, safety, quality, and operational procedures. Provide ongoing feedback, encouragement, and recognition to help team members grow. Help identify and develop future kitchen leaders. Create a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Kitchen Operations Oversee daily Back of House operations to ensure smooth and efficient service. Ensure food is prepared accurately, safely, and according to Chick-fil-A standards. Monitor food quality, portioning, holding times, and presentation. Maintain proper food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas remain clean and organized. Monitor inventory and help control food waste and operating costs. Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency. Guest Experience Partner with Front of House leadership to ensure a seamless overall guest experience. Maintain a sense of urgency during busy periods while keeping quality and hospitality a priority. Address operational issues quickly and professionally. Help create a restaurant environment where guests and team members feel cared for. Leadership & Administration Assist with scheduling, labor management, and deployment of team members. Monitor labor and productivity throughout each shift. Communicate important information, goals, and expectations to the Back of House team. Participate in leadership meetings and contribute ideas for improving the restaurant. Follow and reinforce all Chick-fil-A policies, procedures, and standards. Lead by example through a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to the team. Qualifications Previous leadership or management experience preferred. Restaurant or food service experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to coach, motivate, and hold others accountable. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of a restaurant environment.
