Job Description

Run the door. Run the room. Sophia's is looking for a Captain who can carry all three hats — greet at the door, command the floor, and step onto a station when the room demands it. You set the tone the moment a guest walks in and you hold it until the last table leaves. This isn't an office job with a title. You're on the floor every service, in the middle of it. What the role looks like At the door: reservations, waitlist, seating flow, pacing the book so the kitchen and the floor stay in rhythm. You know who's walking in before they do.
On the floor:
working the room table to table — greeting, reading the table, guiding the order, recommending wine, handling the check presentation on VIPs and large parties.
Over the staff:
directing servers, bussers, and runners in real time. Correcting quietly, coaching between services, holding steps of service without needing to raise your voice.
Over the shift:
opening and closing, cash handling and shift reporting, comp authority to fix a guest issue on the spot, and full ownership of the floor when the owner isn't in the building. What we're looking for 2+ years fine dining or upscale casual front-of-house; captain, lead server, or floor manager experience preferred Someone who can actually work a table — coursing, timing, presence Comfortable with wine, or eager to be trained on it — we'll invest in you either way Warm with guests, direct with staff. Both, not one. Composure in a full dining room. You get quieter and faster under pressure, not louder. Polished, professional appearance — dress sharp, no jacket required Reliable nights and weekends Toast POS a plus; bilingual English/Spanish a strong plus What we offer Competitive hourly plus tip share Real authority — you run the room, you don't just report on it Present, decisive ownership that invests in people who perform Clear path to General Manager Shift meals
Pay:
$15.00 - $25.00 per hour
