The General Manager at Velvaere in Deer Valley East Village, Park City, is a founding leadership role responsible for building the member experience from the ground up. This individual will lead all aspects of club operations—from pre-opening through long-term success—overseeing the community's signature amenities, including The Well wellness center and The Base adventure clubhouse. The role focuses on delivering exceptional, high-touch experiences for 115 owner families through daily operations, team leadership, and curated wellness and recreational programming. As a key culture-setter, the General Manager will develop service standards, systems, and a team environment that ensures a seamless blend of luxury, wellness, and mountain-lifestyle living. At its core are two private clubhouses: The Well, a non-clinical wellness and longevity center offering thermal pools, spa services, and recovery modalities; and The Base, a year-round gathering place providing direct access to skiing, hiking, and outdoor adventure, supported by curated programming for all ages. Positioned as a four-season basecamp, Velvaere offers a fully integrated lifestyle with ski and bike valet services, a private après-ski beach, café, and thoughtfully designed family amenities, including pools, hot tubs, fire features, and outdoor gathering spaces. OVERVIEW
This is a founding General Manager opportunity and not a traditional operational leadership role. The successful candidate will be responsible for building Velvaere from the ground up—establishing its operational infrastructure, cultural foundation, and overall member experience. Rather than stepping into an existing framework, this leader will define how the community functions and how it is experienced across every touchpoint. Long-term success will be determined not by the strength of Velvaere's location or physical assets, but by the consistency, quality, and differentiation of the experience delivered day to day. With significant investment already made to create a one-of-a-kind wellness and lifestyle community, ownership views this role as pivotal to realizing that vision. This position requires a builder who is energized by creation rather than maintenance—someone who will shape the systems, standards, and culture that define Velvaere for years to come and leave a lasting imprint on its identity.INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER
Pre-Opening & Launch Lead full operational build-out from construction coordination through Certificate of Occupancy. Develop SOPs across member flow, service delivery, safety, and emergency protocols. Establish scheduling systems, access control, technology platforms, and reporting infrastructure. Coordinate vendor installation and validate the readiness of all modalities and equipment. Recruit, hire, and onboard the full club team across all departments. Financial & P&L Management Own the full operating P&L, including revenue performance, expense management, and margin optimization. Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital expenditure planning, and staffing models. Provide monthly financial reporting to ownership with variance analysis and corrective action plans. Drive revenue through membership utilization, service mix, F&B programming, and modality adoption. Implement cost controls without compromising the member experience. The General Manager is accountable for the consolidated P&L of the Velvaere community, encompassing both Club Velvaere and the HOA. Day-to-day HOA administration is handled on a separate operational track, with financial oversight rolling up to the General Manager. Member Experience & Product Define and continuously refine the end-to-end member journey, ensuring seamless integration of wellness, recreation, hospitality, and social experiences. Deliver a level of service aligned with ultra-high-net-worth expectations, where personalization and anticipation are the standard. Establish an environment where discretion is instinctive, and service is intuitive, not procedural. Integrate F&B, wellness, recovery, outdoor adventure, and social programming into a cohesive, year-round lifestyle experience. Ensure Velvaere consistently delivers an experience that cannot be replicated elsewhere in the Deer Valley or luxury resort market. Leverage data, utilization trends, and member feedback to continuously refine and elevate the experience Team Leadership Build and lead the entire club organization from the ground up, including structure, staffing model, and leadership team. Establish a culture rooted in ownership mentality, accountability, and exceptional hospitality standards. Lead with a highly visible, on-the-floor presence, particularly during early operations and key member touchpoints. Create clear leadership cadence, communication rhythms, and performance management systems. Attract, develop, and retain a team capable of delivering a luxury, high-touch, and highly personalized member experience. Foster a team culture that thrives in both ambiguity (pre-opening) and precision (post-opening execution) Compliance & Risk Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, facility requirements, and licensing. Identify and proactively mitigate operational, safety, and liability risks. Culture and Operating Environment Velvaere operates within a high-expectation, high-touch, and fast-paced environment. The General Manager must be aligned with: An engaged and hands-on ownership group, requiring clear communication and a strong partnership A culture that values decisiveness, responsiveness, and accountability An expectation that leadership is visible, present, and actively engaged in the member experience A working environment that requires adaptability, sound judgment, and comfort with evolving priorities A commitment to building a culture that balances refined luxury with authenticity and warmth Measures of Success- first 12-18 months The following outcomes will define the New General Manager's success in the first year: A seamless and fully realized opening, where members experience a refined, complete product from day one A fully recruited, trained, and culturally aligned team operating at consistently high standards Strong member engagement and utilization, meeting or exceeding initial projections Operational systems and service standards that are fully embedded and owned by the internal team A clearly defined Velvaere service culture, rooted in discretion, personalization, and anticipatory hospitality Financial performance aligned with, or exceeding, the Year One operating plan Leadership and Operating Attributes A proven ability to operate as a founding General Manager or senior leader in a start-up or pre-opening environment A builder's mindset, with the ability to create systems, structure, and culture from inception Strong executive presence, with the ability to operate effectively in both the boardroom and operational environment Experience aligning ownership vision with operational execution, including managing expectations and delivering results Strong understanding of discretion and relationship management with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clientele Familiarity with technology-enabled operations and integrated systems in high-service environments Understanding of wellness as a holistic lifestyle offering integrated across the member experience
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Proven track record in opening or scaling complex, multi-service operations Direct P&L ownership and operational budget management with strong financial acumen Demonstrated ability to build systems and lead high-performing teams in evolving environments Experience in luxury resorts, private membership clubs, or ski/mountain communities serving high-net-worth clientele Background in wellness, longevity, or recovery-focused operations, including familiarity with thermal bathing and recovery technologyEDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of executive-level experience in luxury hospitality, private club, or wellness operations, with a proven ability to lead complex, multi-service environments. They possess strong expertise in F&B management within a private club or resort setting, ensuring exceptional service and operational excellence across all food and beverage offerings.EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION
