ABOUT INDUSTRIAL
TAPHOUSEIndustrial Taphouse is a high-energy, full-service restaurant and taphouse in Ashland, VA part of a growing multi-unit restaurant group operating multiple concepts across the Richmond metro. We serve bold, made-from-scratch Southern-inspired food, pour 30 rotating craft beers, and run a full liquor program in a space that s become a neighborhood anchor.

We re hiring a General Manager who will have direct influence on menu execution and cost controls, and the backing of an ownership group that invests in systems, technology, and people. We run Toast POS, xtraCHEF for invoice management, and QuickBooks.
WHAT THE ROLE LOOKS LIKE DAY
TODAYYou re running FOH and BOH operations across a high-volume restaurant with strong lunch, dinner, and bar business.
Your week includes:
Floor leadership and guest engagement during peak serviceWeekly inventory counts, food and beverage cost review, and margin analysis using xtraCHEF and Toast reportingLabor scheduling optimization and payroll managementTeam development conversations, coaching, and performance accountabilityCoordination with ownership, management, and the marketing team on menu execution, promotions, and operational prioritiesMaintaining quality, safety, cleanliness, and health department compliance standardsYou'll manage a team of 30 40+ hourly employees and work alongside an existing kitchen leadership team. You report directly to ownership.
YOUR FIRST 90
DAYSIn your first 90 days, you ll audit current systems, staffing levels, and operational workflows. You ll identify margin opportunities in food cost, labor efficiency, and waste reduction. You ll establish your leadership rhythm with the team setting expectations, building trust, and creating accountability structures.
WHAT WE NEED FROM
YOU3+ years as a General Manager (not Assistant GM) in a full-service, high-volume restaurant ideally a scratch kitchen with a strong bar programP&L literacy: You can read a profit and loss statement, understand food and labor cost levers, and take action on the numbers not just report themTeam builder: Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong hourly and management-level staffFloor leader: You lead from the dining room during a Friday rush, not from the office
Tech-comfortable:
Fluent with POS systems, scheduling platforms, and inventory management toolsGuest-first mindset: You genuinely care about hospitality and creating memorable experiencesCompetitive and accountable: You re driven by results but build culture through developing people, not burning them out
COMPENSATION
& BENEFITSBase salary: $60,000 $70,000 DOEMedical and dental insurance programPaid time offShift meals providedGrowth path within a multi-unit, multi-concept restaurant group
SCHEDULE
& EXPECTATIONSThis is a full-time, salaried position. Expect 50 55 hours per week with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. We value work-life balance and build schedules that are sustainable, but we re honest about what the job requires.
