Our five schools serve some 2700 students including some tuition students who live in communities outside the City of Falls Church.

POSITION SUMMARY

: FCCPS Foodservice is seeking a Kitchen Manager to support the development, coordination, monitoring, and oversight of food quality control for the district's cooking-from-scratch programs. Ensuring consistent compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program rules and regulations, foodservice activities to include recipe development, catering, facilitating cooking demonstrations, and staff training.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Support and coordinate district-wide foodservice preparation, distribution, compliance, and administration
• Supervise and train foodservice staff
• Maintain quality control and Health Department regulations for prepared food within the district
• Oversees the creation of new recipes for scratch cooking in compliance with the USDA Child Nutrition Program
• Works in support of the Foodservice Director and in close collaboration with the Assistant Foodservice Director
• Conducts student taste test demonstrations, focus groups, and nutrition education activities to include emerging innovation labs
• Conducts training on proper food preparation, cooking techniques, recipe assembly, production lifecycle and customer service.
• Assist in bid language contract specifications for the procurement of product selection for food and supply items.
• Regularly engages with students, families, and school system employees regarding food-related activities or events.
• Conduct program assessment, gather and analyze program data, prepare, deliver, and establish recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborates with staff to ensure achievement of program goals, team building, and respectful work environments
• Assist in maintaining all inventory controls, procurement processes, as well as federal and state compliance regulatory documentation
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

• Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Management, Culinary Arts or related fields
• 3+ years of commercial foodservice experience (to include catering).
• A combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of progressive professional experience working as a chef or foodservice lead
• 1+ years people management and foodservice FDA/Regulatory compliance
• Bilingual Spanish capabilities a plus
