Job Description

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking an experienced Food Service Manager to lead our Nutrition and Food Service department. As the head chef and operational leader of the kitchen, you will oversee the planning, development, and execution of highquality, nutritious meals for patients, visitors, and staff. This role combines culinary expertise, leadership, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Food Service Manager collaborates with the Food Service Supervisor and the Director of Nutrition and Food Service to ensure excellence in food production, customer experience, and service delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including training, coaching, evaluations, corrective actions, and daily communication to support professional and departmental goals. Oversee kitchen, cafeteria, and catering operations, including menu planning, purchasing, production schedules, handson support, shift coverage, and budget/billing management. Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance by maintaining HACCP/Serve Safe standards, documentation, and adherence to state and federal food service regulations. Promote exceptional customer service and continuous improvement, leading QA initiatives, gathering feedback, and supporting staff engagement. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent (Culinary/Voc Tech preferred) with 3+ years of food service or institutional food service management experience, plus the ability to lead, coach, and train a team. Knowledge of state and federal food service, Serve Safe certification, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Strong communication, multitasking, and problemsolving skills with proficiency in computer programs such as Excel or the ability to learn new systems.
