About UsThe Bishop Hotel & Bottle Shop is a boutique hotel and restaurant located in the heart of downtown Port Townsend. We are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences through quality food, hospitality, and teamwork. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operations and help drive continued success.

Position OverviewThe Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including team leadership, food quality, inventory management, scheduling, food safety compliance, and cost control. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong teams and efficient systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management.

Hire, train, coach, and develop kitchen staff.

Foster a positive, professional, and accountable work environment.

Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.

Ensure adequate staffing levels while managing labor costs.

Kitchen OperationsOversee daily food preparation, execution, and presentation.

Maintain consistency in food quality and guest experience.

Support menu execution and seasonal menu changes.

Assist with catering and special event food production as needed.

Inventory & Cost ControlManage ordering, receiving, and inventory systems.

Monitor food costs, labor costs, and kitchen profitability.

Minimize waste through proper inventory management and portion control.

Develop and maintain systems to improve efficiency and organization.

Food Safety & SanitationEnsure compliance with all health department regulations.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Train staff on safe food handling procedures.

Scheduling & AdministrationCreate and manage employee schedules.

Maintain labor budgets and staffing forecasts.

Communicate effectively with hotel and front-of-house leadership.

Qualifications2+ years of kitchen management or culinary leadership experience.

Strong understanding of food cost, labor management, and inventory control.

Experience training and leading kitchen teams.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen operations.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Culinary education is a plus but not required.
