  • Full-time The Company The Wine County Store is a locally and family-owned Chevron station and store / deli located in Walla Walla, WA.
Our vision is to provide our customers with an experience that transcends the typical gas station convenience store. Our customers frequently report "this is the nicest gas station in Washington." The Wine Country Store is a rapidly growing gourmet deli that is becoming a highly sought-after destination for tourists and locals alike. We are growing to offer a selection of the best Walla Walla wines, gourmet sandwiches with homemade focaccia bread, salads and deli items, exquisite cheese and charcuterie boards, and other tasty treats. The food and beverage operation is the heart of the business and our highest growth business opportunity. Job Responsibilities The Food & Beverage Manager plays a central role in maximizing the growth and success of the Wine Country Store, reports to the Owner / Chef and is responsible for the following primary duties: Manage food prep staff to ensure consistent high-quality food and unwavering customer satisfaction. Always provide and manage excellent customer service with a warm and friendly attitude. Manage inventory, vendors and orders for all food and beverage products, in consultation with the Owner / Chef. Develop new ideas for food & beverage offerings in consultation with the Owner / Chef. Monitor sales reports and ensure shelf space is maximized with high turnover / high margin products. Research vendor pricing to minimize food & beverage costs for stocked items. Process invoices and maintain accurate inventory and reorder reports in back-office software. Monitor margins and maintain product pricing aligned with margin targets. Develop and advertise promotional deals. Assist in stocking shelf space, maintaining shelf price labels, and front-facing merchandise. Conduct inventory audits. Perform other store duties flexibly as required. Work a consistent schedule of 40 hours per week. Be available to cover staff shifts at other times and work overtime hours, if needed. Qualifications A true "foodie" with a passion for great food, wine and beverages. Significant experience in restaurants, wineries and/or other food and beverage retail environments. Experience as a manager or buyer in food and beverage operations preferred. Strong track record in customer service. Proficiency with technology and ability to learn to use back-office software efficiently and productively. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), college degree preferred.
