Kitchen Supervisor Position Summary We are seeking an organized and motivated Kitchen Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen while ensuring food quality, safety, cleanliness, and efficient service. The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for supervising kitchen staff, maintaining operational standards, supporting inventory management, and ensuring all food is prepared according to restaurant recipes and quality expectations. This position works closely with the General Manager, Assistant Manager, and culinary team to provide an exceptional dining experience. Duties Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of kitchen staff during assigned shifts. Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to restaurant recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Monitor food preparation to ensure consistency, portion control, and timely service. Train, coach, and mentor kitchen employees on food preparation techniques, sanitation, safety, and company policies. Assist with scheduling and assigning daily tasks to kitchen staff. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs to management. Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing food deliveries. Minimize food waste through proper storage, rotation, and portion control. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas. Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated safely and report maintenance needs promptly. Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure efficient service and guest satisfaction. Assist in opening and closing kitchen procedures. Address kitchen issues quickly and professionally while maintaining a positive team environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Qualifications Previous experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant kitchen preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety practices. Leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality. Knowledge of inventory management and food cost control preferred. ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or equivalent preferred or required based on local regulations.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are expected to fluctuate based on the operating hours of the restaurant and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position operates in a professional restaurant kitchen environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly stands, walks, bends, stoops, reaches, lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of kitchen equipment, knives, ovens, grills, fryers, and other food preparation equipment is required. The employee is regularly exposed to hot surfaces, open flames, refrigerated storage areas, wet floors, cleaning chemicals, and other typical kitchen conditions. Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and management are essential.
