Part-time , full-time Position Summary Metro Cafe is seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Line Cook with strong breakfast and brunch experience to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintain high food quality standards, and help supervise daily kitchen operations. This position requires availability on weekends and holidays , as these are essential business days. Key Responsibilities Prepare and execute breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu items according to recipes and quality standards. Lead and support line cooks during service while maintaining a positive and productive work environment. Ensure all food is prepared, plated, and presented consistently. Monitor food quality, portion control, and kitchen cleanliness. Assist with ordering, inventory management, and minimizing food waste. Train and mentor kitchen staff on recipes, cooking techniques, and food safety procedures. Maintain compliance with all Health Department regulations and food safety standards. Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of food products (FIFO). Open and close kitchen operations as needed. Work closely with management and chefs to maintain menu consistency and operational efficiency. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of line cook experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong breakfast and brunch cooking experience required. Knowledge of egg cookery, breakfast meats, pancakes, waffles, sauces, and high-volume breakfast service. Understanding of proper cooking temperatures, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Ability to multitask and work under pressure during busy service periods. Strong organizational and communication skills. Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record. California Food Handler Card required (or ability to obtain upon hire). Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat and kitchen equipment. Schedule Requirements Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and early morning shifts . Flexible schedule Preferred Skills Experience with American breakfast and cafe brunch concepts. Experience with inventory management and food cost control. Knowledge of basic sauce preparation and cooking techniques. Experience training and developing kitchen staff. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
